We will be reviewing the decision to change that behavior. In the meantime, if you tag an upload as a duplicate while it's still awaiting approval, it'll show up in the queue as such regardless.
quick question: i just uploaded an image, post #92221 at that, and it is a censored version while the original is uncensored. does it still get removed as a repost considering people find uncensored better?

Usually yes, censored images are deleted in favor of uncensored partners.
