Accounts must be at least a week old to be able to post.

In category: General

The most retarded system I have ever seen in my entire life of websites. This won't stop people from trolling or spamming on new accounts since they can create a bunch of them in one go and then wait a week and then troll, get banned then get on another one.

But the most annoying thing about this is that the legit people have to wait one ass week just to be able to post about content, this is frustrating and no one wants to wait a week. Seriously, remove this crap.

How long IS an ass week?

This site consumes that much of your life? Wow.

Most times when people get banned and make a new account, they are caught within the week if not the day, making great use if this rule.

If we completely removed the rule then it would be far too easy for troll accounts to ban evade and spam the site before being blocked.

ITT: Entitled OP bitches and whines about not being able to do things RIGHT FUCKING NOW and is summarily dismissed and ignored.

As you probably know already, that week is for new users to familiarize with e6's routine

There's tagging, which has a somewhat steep learning curve if one is not already familiar with Ouroboros, source formatting, comment syntax, the current rules, DNP list, forum/commenting etiquette, wiki formatting, etc.

If you've become familiar with all of these within the space of one day, then you're an exemplary user which others should seek to emulate, and I look forward to seeing your contributions, OverDoseD

No.

I'm sure they check the IPs of banned people so that new accounts are quickly caught.

I'd just like to point out that OP is actually this user, who as you can see, has had an account since 2010. So you created this account just to bitch about this policy that in no way even affects you?

I can't facepalm enough at this.

Most trolls are too impatient to wait a week to bother this site. It's a fucking great policy.

I don't know, I think he's asking for a ban.

Day 2: Food and water low, eyes hurt. Pressure ulcers and back pains forming from confinement to chair. Don't know if I can make it five more days. Will send plea to site staff for help if strength can be mustered.

It's not like you can't interact with the site at all. You can still post in the forums, search for posts, edit tags.

Hold on, I want to see what this guy is so anxious to comment on.

It'd better be good. He's building a lot of anticipation here.

Ah image macro, you surface once again.

Also, I'll say this nicely, you are a silly user. Why would you make another account to argue?

I don't know what I'd have to be butthurt about. I'm more perplexed than anything.

So, the account was banned, the user promptly made fun of, and everyone of import got a laugh out of it.

So, thread lock?

thread lock or deletion.

Okies.

If they create all those accounts from the same IP, then it'd be trivial for us to immediately find all of their other accounts and block those on the spot too. They'd have to be dedicated enough in their trolling efforts to create each account from behind a different IP.

No, the current policy won't completely prevent someone from making several accounts to troll with or whatever, but I'd say the vast majority of users that decide they want to make multiple accounts do so on impulse after their current account has been banned, which gives us an opportunity to spot ban evasion before they can really do anything.

I promise we do actually know what we're doing.

Considering I'm now having to wait on 20pc due to this same system, I can say I understand the frustration of people who genuinely want to contribute content. That said, I can also understand the justification behind the one-week period. What kind of loser would one have to be to wait an entire week just so they can spam and troll a given website?
