Nintendo started in 1889 as a playing card company. but after the founder's son took a trip to america, he realized that the company wasn't going to be able to compete with bicycle. so he started investing in other endeavors. after a few failures, Nintendo started setting up virtual gun ranges. (using the same technology that became the nes zapper.) this had a little success. they knew that video games were a good idea, so they invested in a few, and eventuallt created the first hand held system, the "game and watch".today they produce thousands of games, and are competing against sony and microsoft for top game maker.

Nintendo has many characters, but their main is Mario. if something is tagged "nintendo", then it either has one of their characters, or systems.
