Hey guys, regardless of what you may have seen proposed in the News recently, our Tag What You See rule is still unchanged from this here. Remember, the only recent change was to allow using external information for tagging character NAMES only, NOT gender or virtually anything else. PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE RULE! Thanks! :)

I had to compress it to fit it here so it's a bit pixelated but the full-res version is in the source.

The song is Come Little Children from the movie Hocus Pocus. The cover is by a girl on youtube, katethegreat19 I believe.

This... is pretty damn awesome.

Ah, was wondering when this would appear here. The project is called "Children of the Night" by the deviantartist Spiritto. She is also the creator of "Heaven's Light" with Discord, and of the "Baby Discord" series.

This, however, is one of her most beautiful works, and I cannot wait to see it finished.

Yeah, Hocus Pocus! But I find that Enter Sandman's refrain might work here...

wow, that song takes me back... Awesome piece though!

This is my first post EVER on e621.. and I have only ONE wish.

FINISH THIS FLASH! PLEASE.. I bet everyone wants to see it colored!

Fuck.. this flash makes me cry for happyness ^_^'

No, the creator has already addressed this on her site. This is an animate, pretty much a first draft of the animation. She says theres alot of stuff that you wont see until the final, for instance, about the time the foals dissapear, she goes through a flying sequence that Luna herself is not completely sketched out. She states that Luna loves the foals very much and would never harm them.

Would be pretty dark if she had killed them, I know it isnt so but when I looked at this a second time my thoughts where:

The children she had following her were from an orphanage or just straight up homeless and she wanted to "End their suffering" or prevent them from getting to see a future of anguish. Also given the lyrics, I've never seen Hocus Pocus so it kinda sounds like a subtle way to tell them they're going to die.

Just my thought at the time and I'm sure I may not be the only one. BUT that would not be Luna's character to do something like that so I'm glad to hear the info you had given us. Can't wait to see this finished, I usually dont go out of my way to say something is good but this definitely deserves it.

Wow this is amazing, it took me a while to remember where this song was from and yeah I thought the same thing (She was going to kill them) after what this song and the movie was about

the first thing i thought of when i herd the song was the opening massacre in deadman wonderland. what is wrong with me?

I heard another version of this song in a movie once. Does the song have a name?

Hehe come on why kill them? its my little pony. Sure its princess luna but she wouldnt kill the children. As for the song in case no one remembered its originaly from Hocus Pocus. Howe4ver the singer called katethegreat19 i swear is an amazing artist to have added more lyrics to the song as well as have such a lovely voice. She deserves to become an artist compared to one certain kid who became famous from resinging songs others have already done. Never the less kudos to the maker of this animation cant wait to see full version.

I'm not so sure it's a different version, maybe it is, but I'm pretty sure this is from Hocus Pocus. The pretty witch sang it to attract the children to them.

Found the sauce: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsda4GJuzcQ

There's a full version, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjrnOEMD2ds

in the movie hocus pocus the sister that sung this song [and she didnt sing the whole thing in the movie so far as i know so i suspect that the song existed before then, Also as to what she does with the kids....she has to get her gaurds somewhere, what better way to make a loyal retainer then to save them from painfull fate and give them a childhood of joy and rapture in the palace of night, by the time they became adults they would idolize her above anything else after all...or thats one posiblity anyway.

forgot a bit there, in the movie the sister that sung this one while still evil was still the kindest of the 3 [and somewhat airheaded..she was a blonde after all]

and something i just thought of...luna has gonna have some serious explaining to do to celestia the next morning when the overseer of that orphanage runs into the palace panicking, never-mind any hopeful parents that might have been coming to pic up a foal that morning.

Actually I believe it was an Edgar Allen Poe poem that they turned into a song for the movie.

I keep coming back to this. It's that good.

I love this. The song is filled with dark beauty and I like the haunting undertone of the song plus there is alot of truth in the lyrics. Its nice just to sit outside in the cool night air and listen to this song while you think.

I've shed many manly tears. This is just beautiful.
