Character: that one bug that looks like a croissant that you can freeze and use as a platform
A creature from the Metroid series of videogames. Canonically known as a Ripper. As the name implies, if the player is equipped with the Ice Beam or Ice Missiles, they can freeze Rippers solid and use them as platforms before they thaw.
The name comes from a meme created by the artist Slug, who wanted to see more art of the creature but could not remember what it was actually called.
