You and I, and pretty much anyone actually familiar with firearms knows suppressors make for a reduction in the acoustic report of a firearm, as well as reduced flash and muzzle rise. They are not quiet; at best they make firearms a little more comfortable to fire, particularly @ an indoor range. The average suppressor with std. ammunition will take, what, 30 dB from a a gunshot, leaving a report of somewhere in the neighbourhood of 130 dB? That will still leave a person freaking deaf without adequate protection.
(I also do not know what kamimatsu blipped in response earlier, as they have been on my blocklist for some time now)
