To me, its somewhat of a letdown that Telegram still doesn't allow for full access to servers for Windows and certain Linux flavors without either a mobile phone number or the QR code method. For all the flaws and nonsense that Discord currently has, It still doesn't require any phone number for Desktop machines to access. *sigh*

Some servers on discord actually require you to authenticate with a phone number. This is not a server owned bot authentication either, it is done through discord themselves. My phone number is not something I enjoy giving out, especially to a company like discord.

I should really look at spinning up a Matrix instance for me and my friends.
