It's a lot easier to promote crime online than in the open public, where people can see your face. So like how it's not appreciated to speak highly of criminal backgrounds in normal social situations, it's the same here.

And a quick question about the drug referencing in the comments: is it hard, controlled substances only? I understand that marijuana is not legal everywhere in the United States, but where I live within, it is legal.
