My avatar is a picture I drew and painted, I took a photo of it and posted it here and foolishly set it as my avatar before it got deleted. A few people have told me how irritating it is to have a deleted picture so here it is.

If someone could point out why it's good/bad and tell me, would be greatly appreciated.

I think you did a really good job on this one. It reminds me of the painting style of Van Gogh.

I think the problem is that this is a deviation to what's normally submitted to e621, though I've seen similar portraits before: post #683151

I don't think it should be edited and you should be proud of it. Post it on DeviantArt or FA so more people can see it.

Though I would like to hear the reason for its deletion since it is furry-related and I personally think it's of high enough quality to be here.

Because it's a rather bad copy of this image, is sideways on our servers, has a border around it, and is plain and simply not up to standard for us craftsmanship wise.

Didn't know that it was a copy of another image and that there was a border too that did not show up on imgur. Got it.

Though I still believe it is a good start. If the technique could be implemented on original ideas and materials, that would be cool to see.

Yeah, I was gonna say, it looks good, but it looks like a copy. Citing the original on FA or other image hosting sites is fine, but I don't think it belongs here on that fact alone

Regardless, you did a fine job painting it. Next time I would suggest trying to add more gradient to your shading, and also adding in more color to the shadows. Just mixing in black paint makes the image look flat and almost like each shadow is a cutout. Shadows tend to be more saturated than highlights, and often purple is a good choice to make the shadows look cool.

Your image would have been perfectly fine if it was not a redraw of another person's artwork, which is considered low for several reasons, especially if you don't state that what you drew came from -insert link-.
