Topic: I don't understand these "Quality Standards".

Posted under General

I feel somewhat upset.
I would've rather had my older posts removed, as the majority of them, I think, don't fit the quality standards, as those images being objectively terrible, even to me.

I can also get why Post 994117 was removed (it was objectively terrible, as well as being uploaded with a mindset of pure negativity, so I really didn't give two shits about quality in that post), but I don't get why Post 1004697 was removed, outside of it possibly not having any shading (due to me fearing I'd fuck up lighting.)

I don't need to know why my more decent stuff was taken down while my shit-tier stuff is still up. What I want to know is, what ARE the quality standards of the site. I want to follow them as close to the letter as possible if I can.

Mind providing an image?

Had to repost these on Imgur, since I'm not sure getting the direct link from the images still work. Based on the tags on the original posts on here, these are the specific images removed.

Post 994117

Post 1004697

Note that I'm only asking to see the Quality Standards, not a specific reason for why these were removed. Mostly so I don't think the Standards are arbitrary and subjective, and so I can follow them more clearly.

Edit: Better explanation and context. Sorry if I word things weirdly.

Well, I can DMail you for a bit of advice, but there is no black and white standard for minimum quality. Instead, you can message NotMeNotYou for their reason as to why. I can give you specific advice, though: your images look more like a cartoon than a humanized (anthro) one, so you may want to take several still images of cartoons and study how they were drawn. I can provide more details if you want.

Also, kudos for drawing Bunny Link, that is a very rare thing to see.

This would be fairly helpful, thank you!
And I might try redrawing the Bunny Link one. I think the quality overall of the image itself was fairly low even for my own standards when I drew it.

I've already looked at this page earlier .3.
As helpful as this page is, it's not really helpful for what I'm looking for. Although, I did get an answer from Siral_Exan in his earlier post. .3.

With about 12 posts on this in the last month and a half maybe we need to make our uploading guidelines clearer? Or expand the possible explanations for "minimum quality" takedown.

  • Needs to display a solid grasp of artistic principles
  • Needs to be presented in a legible / readable format
  • the chosen medium (image, video, flash) needs to be of a high quality
    • if the medium is a photograph the image can't be taken with a potato during an earthquake, or during the night
      • this means invest into a scanner or get studio quality lighting and camera equipment
      • a scanner is the cheaper option
  • if you upload cropped images I will delete them with the wrath of an angry god
  • if you upload bullshit memes I will, again, delete them with the wrath of an angry god
  • if you upload things trying to spite the moderation your posting privileges are at the peril of moderation

Optionally could use a reminder that participation in general is a privilege and not a right, and that we are more than willing to remove problem users. Though outside of DNP violations that has only come into play twice in the 6 years I have been here, so it's not something that needs to be explicitly mentioned in my opinion.

This makes sense. Now that I see them, I can pretty much agree I don't display the first one at all, especially on my posts prior to 1004697. Thank you.
