Personally, I was introduced into the furry fandom through the worst way... yiff.

When my parents had the internet to my computer shut off, I found a way to get dial-up on that computer (while risking the possibility of getting caught when they tried to call me). One of the most visited sites in my browsing history was ychan.tk (if you don't know what that is, look it up on WikiFur). I had a small collection that I hid in the program folder of Yahoo Messenger (back when that was a thing on Windows XP), and I just loved it.

Fast forward 2 years (2012), and I was 14. I had crashed my computer several times trying to install LimeWire, and I kept getting in trouble at school and home (breaking into my parents room that they kept locked). They had absolutely banned me from the internet, and I was desperate to talk to some of my good friends on Facebook who had a large collection of pictures themselves. I started to explore the Fandom a lot more, and I slowly discovered that I wasn't so alone, being weird and all. There is thousands of people in the fandom who are just like me! This is the time I came up with my Fursona, Nikolai Stevenson (even though my reference sheet reads John Ramos... I didn't know I wanted to be called Nikolai at that point).

Fast forward another 2 years (age 16), and my parents had bought me my first phone. It was an HTC Desire 510 from Cricket Wireless (I still have it, but with the new MicroSIM cards, I can't swap the one from my new phone into it without an adapter). I had a rather large collection of pictures at this point, and I had intended to re-create an E621 for myself (which I did in every practical sense with MyImouto and an old HP Pavillion Slimline). It was right around this point that I had started having a lot of problems obeying school rules (no, I wasn't accessing E621 from school...) when it came to the technology policies. I just wanted to prove to Mr Lediard that the school should perhaps step up their game on internet censorship if they wanted to stop me from accessing blacklisted websites. And being the little shit I was, I shared my methods with everyone I knew. In fact, I was one of the first people to show everyone how to use the VPN that is still in use today at my old high school. (I know that long wall of text is kind of irrelevant, but I included it for the sake of completeness)

Fast forward to today (age 18), and I am the proud owner of D621, running MyImouto off of Ubuntu 14.04. I'm still in the process of uploading my old collection to the server. My post count is currently 250, but that's only scratching the surface. I still have a lot more to upload.

And yes, I know sombody's going to ask... I started an account here on E621 2 years before I was legally allowed to. If this is enough to get me banned, then so be it. I enjoyed being part of this community, and should I be banned, I would just like to thank everyone (especially the admins) for putting up with my BS. You will still see me on FurAffinity at https://furaffinity.net/user/nikolai-the-wolfdog

I saw the only good thing in Star Fox Adventures

ew, limewire. i wonder how many of those crashes were a result of malware due in part to limewire? utorrent is FAR better if you stick to decent sites. i've hardly, if, ever seen even the slightest malware through my years of utorrent usage.

as for how i got into this fandom...i honestly don't remember anymore though it was likely FA or some other image hosting site.

Weirdly enough I was just actually trying to find the specific scene that got me thinking 'what is this strange new world' and lo here it is, the 1988 hungarian film adaptation of Felix, specifically the metallic new-wavy musical number by the captive Cat Band 'Who Is The Boss'...it wasn't until much later I realize all the satirical authoritarian undertones written into here; 'We are contented – because he says we are' although that's not really surprising given it was just a year before the Bloc fell.

It must've been sometime in the earlymid-90's when I caught it on the Disney channel (back when they would actually still broadcast vintage material) and it made enough of an impression that I started to realize 'hey, pretty much the entire disney library consists of this sort of thing'...and of course once pokemon hit stateside there was no going back. Seems limewire played a pretty common role in distributing 'the other side' of the fandom to young curious minds hah

Star Fox Assault (totally a unique reason).

a totally unique story probably

Way back in 2005, my parents took me to a video rental place for movies and a video game. Both Adventures and Assault were on the game shelf right next to each other, yet, I went with Assault, and basically ignored the blue fox lady on the cover of Adventures. I played Assault up until the third mission, but it kept freezing during the loading screen of the fourth level. Anyway, I returned it to the rental place, but I liked the game so much, I had to get a copy of my own. My wish was granted for my birthday that year.

I really liked the game (it's still my favorite Star Fox game), but over time, I started getting "that" interest in (surprise surprise) Krystal. The usual puberty-feels happened then, because puberty. The first time I discovered porn of Krystal was when I stumbled upon a picture while Google image searching her (which I did a lot at the time) on a free-use computer in my middle school art class. The computer was in a large supply closet in the classroom, so I never got caught. That first picture was on a French blog site, which I think was called Centerblog or something, it might be down now.

As standard, the puberty-feels went crazy, and was like this for a couple years, and I was more interested in some of the out-of-character stuff than I am now, because "yay, Krystal porn!". I was still pretty damn picky, though. I then decided to play the rest of the Star Fox games she was in, because obviously. Adventures was the second Star Fox game I played. Nothing much different happened, aside from seeing what she really looks like under those clothes (I never did that binocular trick, oddly enough).

Command was third, and a much different story. Command was most likely the reason as to why I'm much more picky with Krystal stuff. The stories and endings in the game made me feel sympathetic for Fox and Krystal, it basically strengthened my belief that their relationship is very important to them. Krystal is the last member of her race, and Fox saved her life, gave her a home, gave her a family, quite possibly gave her a reason to continue. I quickly found out how much they cared about each other, this is most likely the reason why I hate most Krystal porn.

Yes, I'm just another furry who came to be because of that blue fox lady, except I actually care about who she is, and I care about what she has.

Good old days of Newgrounds. And I guess Strawberry Clock gave me a good push to become a Pokephiliac.

I'm really surprised that I wasn't attracted to the fandom by one specific character... Just the general idea of furries...

Guess I'm the odd one out.

Some shitpost on Slashdot on an article about horses led me to e621.

Fast forward 5 years. My career in cycling is over, and I'm picking up after your trash.

Twinkle-sez. Back when I was too young for porn, I discovered it. A couple years later, and I found out about porn flash games. First it was human, but then one of Twinkle-Sez's games struck a cord. And, when I became the age of old enough to be here, I discovered this site.

But I legitimately do not remember how I found this site to begin with...

i was young idiot (like 15 i think?), i was shit at drawing human faces and animal bodies. but i could draw animal heads and humanoid bodies. so i kinda combined them and started drawing anthros. some older guy at this one crappy finnish humor site's tinychat room noticed what i was doing and introduced me to this whole furry thing and e621. it has been downhill ever since.

I started drawing my own anthro porn when I was 13, and I never grew out of it. So when I got high speed Internet around 2003 a friend of mine who knew about my interests suggested I look up the terms "Yiffy Furry Art" on Google. I was quickly directed to artwork by Foxxfire, Ayame, Kaa Bakensobek (he went by Kaa Starhunter back then), and so on. Being a staunch fundamentalist Baptist at the time I didn't get involved in the fandom for many years because of how "sinful" it was. In fact, I only allowed myself to join the fandom several months after I deconverted from Christianity, which was in late 2008. I joined the fandom in August of 2009 with an account on FA, and I posted my first porn pic online shortly thereafter.

Cool story. Even some character development.

Yiff.....mostly porn...and porn. Then I ended,up actually liking you guys.

Oh gosh, well in regards to the art/porn, I was like 9 and I was digging through google images for cute pictures of Vulpix. Then around page 40 something I came across some feral porn with a Raichu humping a Vulpix. I had the appropriate reaction of closing the window and leaving the computer in a confused panic, but the next day I was back on google trying to find that image again. I eventually did, and that lead to more and so on. A few years after that I found wildcritters, and pretty much solely browsed that site (mostly because FA was filled with anthro art, which I hated at the time, and looked like mess, DA was a mess in general, Pixiv was impossible to navigate (at the time), and e621, at the time, was the same as WC, but with more of the heavily humanized anthro art I didn't care for) until about 3-4 years ago When I started drawing myself, and branched out in terms of the sites I used.

Updated by anonymous

Star Fox Adventures did it for me, like, the first time I saw Krystal, and then her walking around, well suffice to say it all began in 2003. We didn't have internet then, at least, until the following year. Didn't really actively look up art of her until a few years after, heh.

My earliest encounter of furry porn was when my sister one time started playing hentai flash games (mostly the quiz ones) and a few animations roughly 10-11 years ago. One of the games she played however turned out to be this old gem making it the first ever piece of furry porn I've ever witnessed.

Despite that, I mostly get off to a bunch of hentai manga I found on a CD full of it from my older sister's room (after she left to NZ) during my mid-teenage years and eventually rule34.paheal during my late-teens. I haven't got into e621 until I searched for Gardevoir porn using freakin' Google Image Search and one of the results directed me to this site, it took me some time to finally get hooked to this site and I never looked back since.

Your older sister played porn games? And even let you watch? I think it's interesting when girls enjoy porn but I'm also puzzled by your story.

Actually, it was my younger sister who was about a year older than me who played it while I just watched what she was playing, I think she played those games out of curiosity when she came across it one time.

She viewed such content only once from what I can tell though.

lol @ resulting confusion

Updated by anonymous

In this case, the "younger sister" is not younger than the sibling saying that, but instead younger among the poster's sister siblings. So we have [person who made the post] + [two sisters] (for three or more sisters excluding the poster, 'youngest' would be more appropriate). It's a distinction that only becomes apparent because of the unexpected wording; otherwise, everyone would be right in assuming that a "younger sister" is younger in age than the person saying it.

This is a very convincing explanation.

I still think he's a time traveller, though.

To clarify, what I mean by 'younger sister' refers to the youngest of the two in my family (the other sister being much older).

I wasn't expecting what I said to spark a lot of confusion to you guys.

I became a furry because I used to love watching animal shows as a kid. Alpha and Omega, Pound Puppies, Krypto the Superdog, Pokemon, etc. I was 14 when I was researching pokemon ( I love pokemon alot) and then I went into the image section and found...Rule 34. I then being curious CLICKED on the Rule 34 and started to like it. Then I became a clean furry to a dirty furry and became so happy when I found this site. My new homeland.

I believe the first furry thing I encountered on the web was an old flash porn game called High Tail Hall (the one that wasn't exclusively gay) back in the early days of Newgrounds. I went to Newgrounds almost every day when I was much younger, and I remember accidentally finding the mature section of the website. Ever since then I have had quite an affectionate interest in furry porn, but I would not go so far as to say that I am a furry.

More less, me too...
I don't remeber whether it was HTH or some picture that was the "first" that got me into furry stuff, but it was definitely one of the earliest furry thing that I found.

Unfortunately, I don't remeber how I found E621, but it was "the" first furry site that visited. I do believe it was in 2009. Found out that I like the art and ever since then I am daily visitor.
While I don't remeber old staff, but I do remeber them shutting this site down back in 2010.

Not so, I was also the same way. I generally enjoyed fantasy movies and shows and got tired of humans. I found it weird for games to be starring humans when I spend every day as a human when I should be playing a game that lets me be something I'm not.

While I eventually connected to the fandom, my affinity for non-humans was much older than any internet exposure.

A shot of Amber from Dink the Little Dinosaur did a catstretch and it was the hottest thing I'd seen. I always imagined Cera and Littlefoot made the earth move after they got to the valley. Anthropomorphic characters existed everywhere and I just found them more enjoyable to watch than humans. The less human traits they had and the more unique they were, the better. I was probably 8 at the time I was hot for this stuff

I grew fond of the adult aspect via original characters. James m Hardiman's works were especially impressive, though VCL archive had boatloads of stuff.

I got more into true /34/ works via alice and jenny from Bloody Roar and my affection for Rouge the bat coaxed me to get a dreamcast (no regrets).

Bounced around VCL, furnation, yahoo groups, msn groups, smartgroups, and now FA and IB and E621.

So yeah, you're not alone and even to this day I prefer anthropomorphic characters in media as opposed to humans because there is so much more you can do with them.

I didn't find e621 until shortly before the shutdown.

I actually hated this place because it had poor webkeeping, especially in the ads, and several times, I got attacked by a rather destructive virus that would result in 6 hours of misery every fucking time (due to running windows ME and our family being poor as shit)

Seem familiar?

I was actually happy when e621 tanked as it meant it took all the virus laden stuff with it.

When it came back, it was virus free and I've been a happy contributor ever since.

My story is quite interseting. I didn't know about furres and i was never interested in anthro animals. I started as a brony back in 2011 (Thanks to my first mobile phone). ( I was 13 at the time) , so i have to admit i started as a clopper, and i used to download pony stuff from 20%coolser.net, but than i discovered e621 where i cloud find even more pony stuff. So this is how i got here so i registered on this site back in 2012.

I was quietly collecting feral pony art but only ferals because i hated humanoid or anthro ponies.
( Today this collection contains about 40 000 explicit pictures but i stopped collecting them 2 moths ago)

The anthro tag was on my blacklist for a long time. First i didn't even know what this site or who furries was. "But over time i evolved" first i saw a gif about feral pokemons and i liked it so tha i started to collect pokemopn pics as well (still ferals), than dragons , than anything feral.
So i still didn't know much about furries. To be honest first i didn't liked furries, because i hated anthro things, but than i discovered the forum and the community on e621, also after i saw that a lot of pic is missing the feral tag i started to tag.

So slowly i became used to furries, and strated to like them, and now i'm here to help this site as much as i can. I tag about half an hour every day. Now i like furries but i consider myself something else some unnamed perv category.

So yeah is slowly "transformed" to like furries and to love this site wich i know for 4 years now and i visit it almost everyday unless I'm somewhere where uis no internet.
I feel somewhat thankful to furries, i don't know why but i feels thankful.

Flashback a good 6 years: I looked up regular porn, saw something called "hentai" and clicked it. Then I saw "furry hentai" and clicked that. Then I found High Tail Hall and that sealed the deal.

How did I ended up here? I usually browsed luscious.net but then I kept getting viruses so I searched and found e621. I lurked for a couple months and then finally made an account. At first, I was a try-hard comedian type of dude, but then I started being competitive about tagging and started being nice to peeps. I was so competitive, I fixed all of the images that were tagged with "tagme" when peeps thought it wasn't possible. My efforts got noticed and things progressed from there.

And that's my e621 life story

This is exactly my story, except change that to 12 years god I feel old.

I don't remember how I found e6, but it was likely because of animal genitalia. Around...October 2014 I started contributing to tagging, then aliases/implications (because that meant tagging would be easier) and went nuts with the wiki (because untangling tag webs was nearly impossible wutgout it). I started way too many tagging projects that I never got around to finishing, and was proud when I helped knock down the number of posts without a gender tag down from over 30000 to exactly zero.

Staff noticed I never slept and was well-rounded enough to offer a position so things happened from there.

Bonus story:

Even on here I've always tried to keep my online identity as ambiguous as possible, however due to a slip of the tongue in the blips I wound up identifying as female (maybe...Dec 2014?). Loe and behold around 11 months ago I realized that I hated basically everything about being male and would rather get hit by a car than continue identifing as male. So within a couple of weeks I started coming out to my friends/family as transgender female and had a ton of support all around.

I've now been on HRT for ~9 months and have never felt happier in my own skin. In a way this site helped me discover that part about myself. :3

Sonic, although back in the day I was more interested in nudity than porn. It was only about 4 years ago that porn became a thing for me. Also, chalk me up on the list for people who got on too early, account creation was just about a year under the mark.
