Topic: Should there be a Friendlist tab for friends on here?

Posted under General

Or has this been tried already and it didn't work out or it failed.
I still feel as though there should be some way to easily access friends on a list of some sort.

There has only ever been one post about this, here , but it doesn't look like it's been touched.

While I will say this is also better suited in the feature request list , I would back this up. This seems to be a good idea, even for a person like me, who doesn't have many friends here.

I imagine people getting swamped with friend requests if something like that happens. If it is implemented, it should come with a checkbox: "Disable friend requests." That way people can't send the request in the first place.

There's no official feature for it yet, but until then, you can manually make your own Friends List on your profile, as Lance did.

I wouldn't know for sure, but that seems unlikely to be implemented. Social stuff isn't the focus of this site, and the whole concept of 'porn site friends' veers pretty deep into the creepy territory.

I don't know if it'd be practical, but I'd prefer a means of conversing on the profile pages instead, possibly using a system akin to the Journals feature that gallery websites tend to have.

It'd allow for users to start open discussions about things that interest them without cluttering the forums with non popular/controversial topics that are bound to become quickly irrelevant or uploading something/waiting for an upload relevant to their interests.

I think it'd make finding users at e6 with similar interests easier.

you have dmail for that

I don't know. I'm not even sure I want MYSELF knowing about the things I've favorited here, much less prospective friends.

Have you heard of the blips? What you just described is almost exactly what they are.

yeah and I don't know what Genjar is talking about. Plenty of porn sites have friends list. I think a friends tab would be cool.

I thought they were when I first joined, too. Then I realized that the blips feature was essentially a never ending thread mostly for small talk and the finite list of comments that appeared on a user's page were just their most recent blips and blips aimed at them.

Maybe I should reword what I said: You know how message boards have individual forums dedicated to specific topics?

I was saying that, rather than having a friends list, I'd prefer it if every user's profile page essentially became a "forum" of its own, where the user associated with said profile can start "topics" that other users can respond to.

They can be used in that way if you want, though. It's very easy to steer the blip topic of the day in a particular direction because most people there just sit around waiting for someone to say something interesting most of the time

I don't get the point of a friends list on a site like this. At all.

What would it do? You can already talk to people, private message them, and all that. You can already get along with people and actually be friends with them.

What value is there in having a such a list? It seems completely needless to me.

I'm going to sound like an old man here, but I remember when being friends with someone meant getting along with them and talking with them. Not just using them as a name that can be added to a list. When you couldn't count someone you haven't talked to in months as a friend simply because ages ago they clicked "I agree" on an internet forum.

So yeah, no. I don't like this sort of thing.

Maybe just to show others who happen upon your profile on this site what users are most closely knit with you within the community? IDK honestly, but that feature alone might be kind of handy for me personally.

And given that literally everyone I now count as a close friend started from a random interaction on this site, seeing them all in one place might be a good way to message/emphasize them on-site without having the look back in my past messages for the correct spelling/punctuation of their usernames.
