Same thing.

I'm not so sure about that.
Sailor fuku is the Japanese school uniform, whereas sailor uniform sounds like it'd be a better fit for these:

They're similar, but school uniforms should probably be separated from actual sailor uniforms. Especially since seifuku and fuku are currently aliased to school_uniform.

I think it would've been best to keep seifuku as a school_uniform subtag, but it was aliased away in forum #173004 without any discussion.

So I suggest unaliasing those, then aliasing fuku and school_fuku to seifuku (the proper name), which could then be implicated to school_uniform.

Isn't the proper name serafuku? There's also sailor_suit and sailor_outfit.

Fuku by itself means several things but in this context, it simply means "clothes".

According to quora, seifuku means "school uniform" while serafuku refers to the sailor suit version. If this is true:

seifuku A-> school_uniform
sailor_fuku A-> serafuku (or reverse, it probably doesn't matter)
serafuku I-> school_uniform

Any way we go about this, the tags will need to be checked for mistags first.

Serafuku is the sailor fuku, even more specific type of Japanese school uniform (seifuku). So those two should be aliased: serafuku -> sailor_fuku or other way around.

Come to think about it, maybe there's no need to separate Japanese school uniforms from western ones. Some are pretty distinct, but some aren't.

So leave seifuku aliased to school_uniform, but implicate sailor_fuku (serafuku) to school_uniform?

Edit: Which is what you just suggested, while I was writing this.

That's true. Maybe that alias should be moved to clothes? (fuku -> clothes instead of the current fuku -> school_uniform)

Yeah, I must of added that after you started responding. Sorry about that.

Does anyone actually search fuku? It would be easier to drop it entirely.

You lose something in trying to understand these words when you transliterate them. The kanji helps. The actual word for school uniform is koufuku. The word seifuku just means uniform, just generally. But it's a clever shortening of seiraafuku (sailor as a loanword and clothes) to bridge the meanings. The same goes for serafuku. Probably much better off just changing it to japanese_school_uniform or something for clarity. Lots of places have school uniforms, and they aren't all sailor style. I can't imagine it's anything but really confusing to most users to make a habit of throwing in various foreign words they only half know meanings for. Serafuku shows up all over hentai and people know what it means, even if they don't know why it means it. But picking it apart into variations is counterproductive.

Is this discussion going anywhere? I can't suggest any alias involving sailor_fuku until this one gets out of suggestion limbo.
