Band-Aid is a company that manufactures adhesive bandages. Adhesive bandage is a type of bandage.

This and this are not the same thing, though one contains a small piece of the other.

Kudos to you for getting an appropriate bandage, and not the commonly mistaken gauze wrap.

What's a gauze wrap? You mean this one?

No. Softer, not elastic. One moment, my phone is dying. Look them up, it is a relatively small detail to notice.

When stretched, it will be loose, you can see the threads.

Here, two images of a roll of bandage and a roll of gauze. The bandage is on the left, the gauze is on the right. (1 2)

Then... what about renaming band-aid to adhesive bandage since band-aid is a company name?

Or is band-aid too commonly used and adhesive bandage too long?

Most bandages are slightly adhesive. Enough to stick to surfaces at least once...

Bandaid and bandage should remain separate, and not changed. If needed, the wiki could say (jokingly) "a bandaid is for small booboos" and "a bandage is for large booboos or aethestic uses". It should remain seperate, TBH, because bandaids look different.

I see it like with how people call Toaster Pastries "Pop-Tarts", even though not all toaster pastries are Pop-Tarts. So no, they would not be the same thing.

This is one of those situations where the brand name is better known than the name of the product they make so people just use the brand name instead, known as generic trademark. Click here for a list of others.

Okay, I see. You learn something new every day. Didn't know that generic trademarks were actually a term.

Yeah, band-aid is a brand name. Dunno how that ended up as the main tag.
How about just plaster for the adhesive ones? Either way, that tag needs to go in the same pile.

Ambiguous. Plaster is a substance.
