Topic: Best way to talk to people

Posted under General

I just recently made an account on here and was wondering what's the best way to meet new people on here :) I've tried using the chat feature but couldn't get it to work after trying multiple things. I know there is a messaging feature but I just don't know how often people use that.

Chat doesn't work because you have to register your username.
Best way to meet other people is to find your favorite set of tags and browse it daily, comment every now and then or respond to others on them.

Business: Find a topic you can contribute something to and contribute something to it. You might get noticed by someone.

Casual: ...Um... Blips, maybe? Cold calling random users via Dmail may be too risky.

I removed +R mode from the channel a while ago.

How do you register? I saw somewhere that you had to get an app and set it to some channel but I kept getting the same error messages.

You can download a standalone client or you can join the e621 irc channel through the "Chat" link up top.

Sometimes there's an interesting forum topic you could join in on the conversations on those, also the blips people just talk about whatever they want (within reason of course) just respond to some people say stuff you'll get used to it pretty quick.
As for Dmail I usually ask the person for permission to send them a Dmail in the comments or something the few people I've asked have been fine with it. I've also received a few Dmails myself from various people I'm fine with it and always respond I guess I'm easy to talk to.
Also fair warning if you decide to talk to me or Dmail me, knives will be discussed.

I've been meaning to ask someone about that. Are there any restrictions on what you can post in blips (besides the ones that apply everywhere)?

I honestly have no idea, I suppose the basic rules apply but mostly I don't say anything I wouldn't in public and I've been fine.

IRL: "Hi, I'm John, and I'm a furry enthusiast. No, I don't wear fursuits, I just like the porn."

That should get the conversation going.

@Doomguy666: Should I be maintaining the sharpness of my kitchen knives? I'm lazy.

Contort your mouth and tongue while your vocal cords vibrate to form words

Yeah I recommend this I love this thing I've had it for years and with me that means it's seen a lot of use and it still works great it only takes a few passes to get most edges sharp again.
Here they also have knife sharpening instructions I'd tell you what I learned about sharpening knives but their instructions look pretty comprehensive.

And here I thought you would answer something like: 'with your fists'.
It seems I just don't know you as well as I thought, Rusty.

I try to remain a riddle wrapped in the mystery of an enigma.

Think Twitter. People comment on anything and everything. Just take a look and respond.

Gonna' be honest--I don't come here to make friends or meet new acquaintances. That's what social networks are for.

Am I opposed to making friends? Not necessarily. I've never even tried. Again, it's not the reason why I log on.

Just my two cents...

I tried cold calling once. It didn't really work out. Most people are really confused when that happens. Lol

Does the chat still work? It was for awhile but I tried going back on and it's just empty.

Try registering. If you get a different irc client (as in, one that isn't browser-based), it will tell you if the channel is set to +r mode.
