Topic: Superseding grandfathered not_furry images

Posted under General

Apologies in advance if this was answered somewhere before; searching the forum is a nightmare.

As per forum #146158, subsequent not_furry uploads were banned by default, while approved images from before the announcement were grandfathered.

My question is, given e621 encourages substitution of existing works with the best-quality copy of an image available, can new versions of these grandfathered images be uploaded, or does the not_furry ban apply to all new submissions, regardless of history?

We grandfather in better versions of old uploads.

Since we're already hosting the one version we might as well have at least the best one available.

Just make sure it's visible that you're replacing an existing version.

They're sometimes hard to spot during approvals (especially if not properly parented), so contact whoever handled it if some get accidentally deleted.

Here's a question: What about comics that today would be irrelevant, but several pages were uploaded in the past? Can we upload future pages of any such comic?

I don't remember that ever coming up in the committee. Personally, I'd say that it depends on the length. If there's just a couple of pages missing and we're keeping the rest anyway, might as well have the whole thing here. Unless it's a webcomic, of course.

I don't personally know of any such set, but just in case, it's a good thing to know the answer to.

There are probably some steven_universe images which are pools that are ongoing, but with our "gems are humans in default appearance" new uploads are considered irrelevant.
