Basically it's all on hold at the moment. If it's something that just absolutely must be handled right away, then I won't refuse to help, but I'm not sure of any pressing matters that can't wait a few days.

aaaand if there is a lead admin, i'd say pick one the will be in the best interest for ALL the users.

Also, if there are any changes to the site, if it's possible, i'd recommend upgrading the support the site has with animation, this regarding swf. flash seems to be getting older as we speak and even the people down at adobe seem to be moving towards HTML. So it would be great if e621 can support more then just flash.

HTML is different than Flash. Flash animations are included in the same file and can be included in the same page whereas HTML has to be embedded inside a frame that has to be in the page.

Maybe 9_9 I guess a bit of tweaking in the post controller to add support for it may be enough. But I'm no site coder, so I can't poke in and say "Good news everyone! HTML is now supported!". That's up to site devs, though.

e621 is html :/ specifically html5. Also it is.. very.. VERY. VEEEERRY dangerous to support canvas based animations at the same level as flash. The big push to html isn't for content sites like us, it's for live sites that currently use flash for things like video chat, viewing movies, doing fancy animations (that don't really add anything) basically.. things that can be done better on the webpage itself (which is html, all webpages are)

I appreciate the suggestion however, and will consider it if people start using canvas in that fashion.

I haven't had access to my e621 e-mail account since the day I stepped down. Someone should hopefully be going through those soon. Sorry it's taking so long, just having to wait on Dragonfruit LLC (e621's owner) at the moment to get these tasks assigned.

Yes.
It's important in case of problems with other admins/mods.
Not that they happen often, but in the event that one does happen users need someone to go to about it.
It also helps when 2 admins disagree with each other, like with Char and Aura about that dickgirl tag issue.

I'm sorry that this is such short notice, but I suppose I should at least tell everyone that I'll be stepping down as e621's lead administrator, effective immediately.

It's something I've been considering for quite a while now, for a few reasons. The underlying issue though is that I've simply burnt myself out, and feel that my actions and words as far as handling the administrative team have not been indicative of a good leader. I let the stress of trying to handle so many aspects of the site just get to me too much the past few months, and I feel that the site will only suffer if I continue to try to lead it at this point.

The simple fact of the matter is that, although I've enjoyed and felt a sense of accomplishment administrating e621 over these past 2 and a half years, it's just simply not something I enjoy doing anymore, and would prefer to spend my free time focusing on exploring new hobbies and basically just trying to better myself as a person. :)

Some of you may recall that, before e621, I was a head admin at AGNPH from late 2003 until late 2010... nearly 7 years! Combine that with my 2.5 years on e621, and I'm looking at nearly a DECADE of furry website administration. Wow. :P Suffice to say, I think I'm ready to hang up my administrator hat for good. :)

We've not yet named a replacement, that's something that I'll be working on with Varka today, and the administration might have a bit of restructuring as a result (dividing tasks up more and such). Believe me, I didn't really plan on just dropping the site so suddenly, but unfortunately things just didn't work out that way.

I wish Varka, the administration, and all of our users all the best. :) I don't plan on disappearing forever, but I do feel that I should take a step back from my site responsibilities and just focus on making the transition to new leadership go as smooth as it can (yes, despite my sudden departure).

Thank you for all the great times everyone. It's been fun. :3
