There's a post from 4 years back https://e621.net/post/show/435117 that I wanted to make a special request to be uncensored (with editing software), and admittedly I don't know the correct routes/webpages to go through to do that.

Uncensoring is one of those things that require some artistic talent as well as skill to adapt to artists style. What this means in practise is that there's low amount of people doing these and most either stick with easier things like couple pixel lines or have results that destroy the original work. Then considering that majority of artwork coming from japan is censored, that's massive amount of work to try to do everything, so most will focus on stuff they like, etc.

This feels like situation I would almost go and look up some edit threads somewhere where that small group who knows what to do most likely is.
