At August 2018 tumblr decided to block access to raw images. However some of the recent uploads here at e621 are at raw resolution. Like this one:

That image in particular has another source on twitter. The raw was gained from the second source, it isn't a tumblr raw image

Look at the third link in the source. The image was uploaded from twitter where you can still access the original resolution (although they are compressed into JPEGs).

Yes, it sucks that many artists upload their works at twitter in JPEGs format that often ruin the image quality (especially if they're at white background).

Well that makes sense. However, I feel like a website like tumblr should be able to provide the highest quality images. But idk I don't know shit about how networks work lol.

Dang. I'm glad to have played my part by siphoning a dollar or two out of tumblr's Yahoo!'s Oath Inc.'s pocket.

Do also consider that we do have data hoarder users here, so it wouldn't surprise me if someone has crawled some artists tumblrs and have all the raw versions saved and then starts uploading them now.
