Topic: [Feature] Snap to last post when clicking “last”

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Requested feature overview description.
This would be a small QoL change. On the forums there is that little green “last” button beside the name of any multi-page thread. I was thinking beyond taking you to the last page of a thread it could also snap you to the last post. I’ve seen this feature on other forums and always appreciated it.

Why would it be useful?
This would be very helpful if you regulary check a certain thread...because you’re always snapping to the latest discussion rather than having to scroll down each time.

What part(s) of the site page(s) are affected?

This has always seemed like a logical behaviour for such a link, to me. Ideally, if you hadn't read the last page at all, it would take you to the top, and otherwise take you to the absolute last post. But IIRC thread status is not tracked in a fine-grained enough way to make that possible.

I'd rather see it scroll to the last unread post. You know, like almost every single forum engine does.

That's TWO feature requests, because it would first have to track last-unread-post to begin with.
Currently it tracks exactly one bit of data: The date of the newest post you have read (within the entire forum, not within individual threads). Threads newer than this are marked as unread, and all others are marked read.
