Topic: Bug for anyone else?

Posted under General

This topic has been locked.

I keep going back to posts I'm 100% sure I favorited in the past, and finding out the mysteriously got removed form my fav list

Has this happened to anyone else? I would make a post in the bug report forum but I don't want to look like an idiot/ waste time if for some reason I haven't been favoriting what I thought I have

Example post #469716

Your upvote or downvote will disappear when a new version of the image is uploaded.

Your favorite is supposed to carry over when the old version is deleted, but only if there is a parent and the "transfer favorites to parent" checkbox is checked when it was deleted.

clickbait for anyone else?

I've clicked on 2 random forum posts in the past 2 minutes and both times you have falsely claimed click bait, so here's a definition to help you avoid this mistake in the future:

click·bait

ˈklikbāt

nouninformal
(on the Internet) content whose main purpose is to attract attention and encourage visitors to be interested in a subject through use of false, exaggerated, or generally misleading information.

The purpose of this forum post was to ask other users if they also noticed this issue and, if so, I would create a formal bug report, instead of doing so immediately and in the process potentially wasting the time of a site developer

You missed the joke. It's funny 'cause it's not (intentional) clickbait, but the title makes it seem otherwise.

Unintentional or not, this is not clickbait - there is no sarcastic or ironic joke to be had here, this is a serious question

I don't see how anyone even thinks it is, do you expect me to put the entire question in the title?

Maybe the title lacks some information but clickbait is very far from the correct term

Use a more specific title and not something vague and non-descript. Something like “Why are my favourites being removed?” is much better than “Bug for anyone else?”.

I don't see how anyone even thinks it is, do you expect me to put the entire question in the title?

Yes, you need to put the entire question in the title. No matter how serious your post is, giving it a vague title makes it look like click bait because you don’t include key information in the title. Click bait works by being vague and your title looks like click bait.

Maybe the title lacks some information but clickbait is very far from the correct term

It looks like click bait so click bait is, in fact, the correct term.

Instead of getting worked up over your title being called “click bait”, understand that it’s being called click bait because it’s vague, and remember to be more descriptive with your titles so that your posts don’t look like click bait.

When I see a clickbait, it usually has the opposite effect on me.
I close the damn webpage or even the web browser!!!

Though op, it is kind of is a mild clickbat, as it requires a click to get information about this "bug" in title.
As long as title requires you to click to get information about the title, it is click bait.

Suggestion for title (forum posts don't have a time limit for editing), so that this forum can maybe be about the question asked instead of click bait rage:

posts keep dissapearing from favorites, anyone else having this problem?

the problem isn't my title, yes it's not descriptive enough but you "intelligent and not mentally impaired" people keep putting it in the same category of "Click this forum link to become an admin!"

Is it possible for janitors to delete forum posts, or do I have to @ an admin? This post has been derailed so hard it landed on another set of tracks

In b4 thread lock, but:

Admins can delete forum posts, but they rarely do so. It is better to archive for future reference than delete due to irrelevancies. Threads get locked instead, so further irrelevant discussions can't continue. They also lock posts when threads get bumped with no good purpose. You can also "delete" threads by hiding them before any reply is made.

Bro. 20Chara was just answering your question and trying to move the conversation away from the click bait rage. He wasn't the one who accused you of clickbaiting.

Relax. Munkel likes getting a rise out of people and I was just goofing off. I"m sorry if I made you feel attacked or hurt-- It wasn't my intention.

No one's really upset about the "clikbait" title, I promise. It is more helpful to put a more descriptive title, but we all get a bit vague sometimes, unintentionally or otherwise.

On the original topic, I don't have a clue, honestly: favorites are supposed to transfer to a new image if a newer version's uploaded, so that's unlikely to be the case--accidents happen though. That said, there was a forum post a few days ( forum #250152 ) abnout favorites not transfering, but it's also possible to see how many of your favorites have been deleted: and you havn't got that many ( fav:FurryMcFuzzball status:deleted ... you can't view the pictures themselves, but none of them are the image you mentioned.

If you could provide more examples than jsut the first one, maybe??? we can figure something out.

If they were all faved around same time, then it's possible maybe they were eaten by a hiccup of some sort, or.. well, who knows. but the more information the better.

First and foremost, the problem is not people "upset" by my "clickbait title", the problem is people were actively trolling, and as a result, completely derailed what conversation could have been had. It wasn't a personal issue, but it was a complete waste of my time and effort.

Second, I can confirm that it's not posts being deleted that's removed them from my favorites section, as recently I've had posts removed mere hours after they were added. I do favorite a lot of posts in a short amount of time in quick bursts, so I strongly believe this is a server error. The specific timing of these errors is unknown to me, since I can't easily track what I favorite, and at what time, unless I spent time actually testing and recording it. I was hoping other people would have had the same issue, prompting developers to look into it more than if it was just my complaints
