Topic: おばけ Translation

Posted under General

There's an artist (おばけ) with 23 works posted on this site. They mostly have Japanese (I think) text on them and none of them are translated. I've tried to use translating software to get some sort of meaning out of them, but it hasn't really worked out. With so many works already under the translation_request tag there's really no hope of any of them being translated, so I decided to make a specific request. If anyone could translate them I would greatly appreciate it.

おばけ - Obake or Ghost.

Transliteration/Romanization are usually the best approaches and put the original nickname into "other names" section in artist wiki. Especially in these kind of cases where name is literally just something that we use as tag for thing.

You can also request alias so that if someone searches or uploads content with original name it still works.

I know the title suggests otherwise, but reading the post, he was asking for the images under the おばけ search. Most of them are nothing more thanimage, but a few do have a lot of text.

That said, a direct request for a series of images isn't likely to make it any faster.

Well over 1,200 translation_request tags have been cleared with the tag's total regressing some 600 in number since the beginning of the year. By Wednesday, the total number of requests will have fallen below 10,000, where those tagged translated will be swelling to near 15,700, so I wouldn't say there's no hope.
Indeed, the whole lot by this artist is actually due to be cleared in its entirety by the middle of next month supposing the current pace neither increases nor decreases. What I do suggest is that you make sure that the translation_request tag is in place on every image that needs it.

I'm actually a sucker for direct requests, but hardly anyone makes them. The last I received for this site was a whole two months ago.

I'm currently learning japanese at my university. Once I'm through with all courses, my mediating is halfway decent and I've got some spare time, I'm considering doing some translations. Will still take 1.5 years for me to reach A2, but maybe I can start earlier, depends on how the course goes. So far I can only read a bit formal kanji-free stuff..

Whenever you're ready, buddy. There's plenty of easy little things to chew on. Practice makes perfect and all that.

It's now Wednesday, and we're in the the tiny span where my forecast plays out perfectly. 9,999 translation_requests, 15,696 translated. I'd underestimated how many new requests there would be, so the translated side is pushing a little more than I had actually thought it would.
