Topic: Comments below threshold vs. Comments hidden

Posted under General

Just a quick question, what's the difference between the "X comments hidden" or "X comments below threshold" buttons on each post?

Comments hidden, from what I understand, is either down voted comments or when you're on the comments page and there is quite a few comments on an image, it hides the older comments and shows the more recent comments.

Comments below the threshold is when, in your settings, you have set a certain amount of comments to be shown under an image. Once that limit has been met, the older comments will be placed under a threshold unless some comments have been down voted, in that case, the down voted comments will be placed under the threshold. ( This feature can be eliminated by setting the comment threshold amount to a lower number such as -10 or -199. )

if you're asking about the comments page, yes. comments below threshold are comments downvoted. hidden comments are comments intentionally hidden so they wouldn't take up alot of space on the page

Is there a way to always show comments, both hidden and below threshold?

Go to My Account --> then to Settings --> then scroll down to "comments". Make sure both ticky boxes are checked, and then put something like -2000 in the 'comment threshold' section. Then remember to save the changes with the button at the bottom of your screen. And that should let you see all the comments regardless of their voted score.

There's no way to show hidden comments though. Users choose that option for a reason. I think only admins can see those.
