Topic: Automatic Image Deletion

Posted under General

Are we seriously stooping down to automatically deleting images just because a moderator never got around to approving it for 31 days?

Yes, it brings out the trash nobody wants to delete or approve.

What if it's agreed that it's not trash after it's been deleted, does it get undeleted?

Generally speaking, most things are approved within, say, a week or so of being posted.

People approving things typically will go through, hit approve on things that they approve of, deny the things they don't... And when we find something that gives us trouble, most of the time we move on. There are, I think, a thousand or so new pictures a day... better to not dwell on one image or another for too long. (I know at least personally, I can feel very frustrated if I stare at one picture for too long trying to decide if it's "good enough" or not)

This would be really problematic if we only had one janitor doin' it, but we've got several of us, and a lot of us try to look at the oldest images first. Most of us look at the queue several times a day. So... If the auto moderator is deleting things, it's because several people looked at the images several times and none of us could form a strong enough opinion on the matter.

It seems kinder to delete it rather than let it continue to obstruct a user's upload limit <3

I hadn't thought of that
That's an excellent idea

How strict are the requirements on "good enough"? My posts have been sitting there for two-and-a-half weeks now.

...pool #15490, if you wanted to take a look at them. I put too much work into tagging them.

EDIT: If this sounds rude, I'm not trying to be, and I apologize.
