Can we talk about the mature tags? Specifically mature_intersex, mature_gynomorph, and mature_andromorph. They were somewhat recently aliased to intersex, gynomorph, and andromorph and this has caused several problems.

1. It removes the ability to find pictures of mature intersex characters (except herm and maleherm strangely)

2. It causes mature intersex characters to be tagged incorrectly

I'm not sure about the reasoning behind these implications, can we have a discussion about it and get some more insight?

They also imply these tags while being aliased to them, which is odd

How so? A mature intersex character would be intersex, so mature_intersex being tagged intersex is still correct (if less precise).

young is a standalone tag too. Should there be young_* and old_* variants next to mature_*? And why stop at genders? Should we also tag mature_anthro, mature_feral, mature_humanoid, mature_human, etc?

Basically originally we had milf and dilf tags, and those were replaced with mature_female and mature_male to avoid using slang terms, but still preserve the ability to search it, since milf/dilf is very popular porn content. Then it was expanded to cover other gender tags as well.

Why stop there? Why not mature_fox, mature_sandshrew, mature_dasyuromorph?

I dream one day of an e621 where the tag list would be a mile long of ultra-specific tags, were anyone still around to bother attempting to tag them.

I don't know why these tags are aliased, but I think it needs to be fixed. Intersex isn't treated differently as other genders for other tags. It would be helpful if people could reliably find mature intersex images.

I definitely concur with this. Regardless of whether the mature_* group of tags is kept or removed, these various mature_intersex subtags should be de-aliased so they can at least be utilized in the meantime, like with mature_male and mature_female.

Can confirm. I was trying to fix post #2263644 (as of this posting it is tagged "mature_female"), and came looking for this thread to figure out why mature_male and mature_female tags exist, but the mature_ tags for the other genders got aliased to just the gender.

It's been over seven months... Justice for the mature tags!!!

Reason: The mature_* tags should be consist with the other gender tags. Having some of the mature_* tags aliased to their respective genders and others not aliased makes little sense and is inconsistent. Even if the tags are seldom used, aliasing them prevents any new uses of the tags.

+1, I'm in favor of removing the aliases for these mature_* tags and instead implicating them to their respective suffix (mature_intersex is already implicated to intersex, but mature_andromorph and mature_gynomorph aren't currently implicated to andromorph and gynomorph).

the problem was when the rule of "tagging what you see" came off as too transphobic for our entitled users.

I'm glad my BUR got approved, but the other one for mature_intersex tags is still pending. Sorry about bumping several threads, but I'm wanting to make sure these BURs aren't forgotten (I'm also hoping to start populating the mature_intersex tags once this particular BUR is approved).

Let's get the other intersex one approved as well or at least please explain why it should be aliased.
