The tag was incredibly redundant and too specific, considering you accomplish the exact same thing with solo male and solo female searches

Therefore they were aliased to the base male and female tags, respectively.

okay but like we already had a bunch of posts tagged with it and its nice to be able to use fewer tags to search for one thing when youre only allowed to use up to 6 tags in a search

I'd very slightly agree if this was a complex search but it's quite literally 2 tags

Sometimes I can kinda see the argument of having more specific tags in scenarios where they could be useful but not enough to warrant them to be their own tags. As example, being able to search group images where there's only single female is kinda hard with current way of tagging things.

However if you are searching solo, then including gender tag not only works exactly the same way, but also gives you absurdly much more and better results and also allows searching stuff like intersex as well. So having more specific solo_* tags is ridiculous.

This is just a means of oppressing ordinary users who can only search 6 tags REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

JK Mairo is right. solo by itself is way more flexible.

really? wow, i could have sworn i remember using them much more recently than that. maybe im just thinking of the male_focus and female_focus tags

I was about to complain about how no, this didn't really work because solo_focus is almost always mistagged as solo and so searches for solo male would almost always turn up mostly solo-focus females getting fucked by disembodied penises / faceless males, and how the undertagging was so prevalent it would never be fixed...

...but it looks like there's been a major cleanup since the last time I looked - solo male/female turns up <1000 results, and even solo male female only turns up 50 pages vs. the 750+ pages you get for solo male. And for the case of solo_focus male turning up lots of female-focused images that just have dicks in them, well, that's what male_focus and female_focus are for. (For new images, anyway; the thousands of older images not tagged with them are going to need some pretty radical intervention).

So dang, that's really nice.
