Topic: Im a traditional artist, how do I safely post it onto here?

Posted under General

Im a traditional (mainly) artist, and even though I plan on moving to digital for a lot of stuff, how would I safely currently post on here my traditional (pencil drawings) stuff?
I already tried before, buuut it was removed so I dunno. Seemed fine to me before it was removed.

There's guidelines for this on the site already, but typically as long as the image is reasonably visible, well lit and follows the same quality standards as any other type of artwork does, you should be fine. You can take a picture with your phone or camera, but the best thing to do is scan it if you have one. Your previous 2 posts were deleted due to "quality standards (photo of traditional media)". I suppose this must mean the image wasn't good enough to display, as appose the the actual quality of the work itself.

Use a scanner. Most basic letter-sized flatbeds are pretty affordable, maybe $40-$70. A lot of secondhand stores carry them too these days if you want cheaper. I get that nobody likes paying for things, but sometimes you have to.

Also, post-processing. If you would like I can help you with that personally using free software so you won't have to buy anything.

uuuuuuuuh, as a fellow artist, id say, post them finished (digitaly of you can)
tho high quality scans can be even considered for deletion,

the thing is, the quality of the work itself, remember this is not an artist site (sadly) , is a image board

you can read the FAQ for basic info bout artists
but dont let the "low quality / didnt reach site quality standards" (mainly cuz the pencil area)
make you feel bad, good artist got it, but the best ones dont give up hearing it >:3

the main point
> post your gratest work and hope for the best
> other sites (ink bunny, furrafanity, eikas portal) will fill your needs to grow from small start
> here most people (i have to say, if it is porn it will *mostly* get good comments) are kind,
> is very good site~

Ratte, do you know of any post-processing software that runs well on Chrome?

No, just proper downloaded-and-installed software.

That's what I was afraid of. I've got a ton of experience with Photoshop. I have a feeling I'm going to have to break down and get a proper computer just for art.

Nah, not PS. Nothing heavy or hard to run.

It's been mentioned earlier, but post processing is important too. What I do is change the white balance and contrast to make the paper look more white and any markings darker. I also try to brighten up any colors. GIMP is a good free photo editor if you need one.

Good luck <3

Yeah, stop using LG Aristo MS210 camera and use proper scanner and the likelyhood of getting approved goes from 1% to 99%.

At least you did remember to disable GPS location data before uploading. This is one of the reasons why we don't allow photos as many users leave this kind of data behind and we are one of the websites which do not strip this away during upload!

There's Gimp, Krita and Paint.NET, which are all free, lightweight and bunch of tutorials online how to do basic shit like cleaning up scanned imagery. At least Gimp and Krita also have portable version available which you only download, but do not install if that's something you didn't want to do.
https://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures

There's even more things with paid options including Clip paint studio and SAI which are aimed more towards creating artwork and then the elephant in the room Photoshop which has all everything and costs the most.

As PSA: do try to avoid browser and mobile stuff as these generally are not great, sometimes insert stuff like watermarks and if you need to manually fix stuff by drawing and such it usually looks horrible.
Also avoid camera scanner apps, even googles own thing is simply put abysmal, reducing resolution and visible details compared to simply using phones own camera app significantly!

Thanks a ton guys! The artwork itself was fine (mainly the second one lol), but I'll try to grow on Inkbunny or something, use a scanner or something (on a printer), oooor just digitilize the artwork. Or some combination of all of this haha. Either way, I just wanna grow ya know?
Either way, getting stuff on e621 (even if it isn't an artist site, and my art is sourced form somewhere else) is a goal.

That's the challenge with Chrome OS -- they're meant to run browser and mobile apps. Most are created with tiny drives. My cell phone has six times more "hard drive" space than my laptop.

This really is one of those problems that it's not up to us what you have and chromebooks were not meant for more than web browsing to begin with.

I have just had so many users coming to me, saying they only have their phone to work with, but we can't exactly start favoring specific users for arbitary reasons.

Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to give the impression I was looking for someone to hand me a solution. With the direction the conversation was heading, I just figured I'd ask around and see if someone had heard of something new I didn't know about.

I apologize for the misunderstanding. Certainly wasn't looking for any kind of special treatment. :)
