Topic: Wondering if I'll be able to post certain images

Posted under General

I wanted to know if an "edit" of this image would be viable to post on the site before I do so. I was considering uploading isolated versions of the photos that appear in this gif.

Basically, I just took a frame of each individual photo, and cropped it out so that it was a single, upright image. I just wanted to precautiously make sure it might not be considered a "bad edit" or anything. Here's an example.

Yeah, that would fall under the low effort edit and screencap rules.

With animations, filetype conversions are accepted (as in, you have whole animation as flash or AVI, then make WebM, GIF or APNG out of it). This is essentially there to ensure that we do have the best available quality possible even if the original filetype is not supported, but also wider compatibility with devices (microsoft isn't going to update IE to support APNG and apple is plugging their ears and yelling when someone even starts mentioning webm) without need for fancy automatic conversions on the site itself.

However taking individual frames or cutting the lenght is not allowed. Also compatibility shouldn't be an issue here either as GIF is almost universally supported as it was introduced in 90's.

However you are more than allowed to link these as something like imgur album in comment section or put up into the description and I'm almost certain there's at least one person who is thankful for that.

Also as the GIF does have the images in slighly tilted angles with relatively low res, the way the edits are created can impact the end results quite significantly.

E: as pointed out by Dice when discussing this in private, best approach would be to ask artist for original quality untouched and unrotated PNG files. At this point these would not count as edits and are fine to post, but would also be much higher quality and dither free as well.

Alright, thanks for the advice, I'll just do the imgur album as you suggested. I honestly highly doubt that Whygena has the images by themselves just lying around though. They were probably all part of the animation to begin with.
