Topic: How does this not count as girly, again?

Posted under General

Not trying to start drama, or anything, I'm just genuinely confused. I recently tagged this image with the "girly" tag, 'cause it was my understanding that a pretty face on a male body counted. But somebody with the privileged user ranking has since removed the tag. Looking at the tag's wiki page, it says "A male character with a feminine personality, clothing, and sometimes body type (sans breasts of course)." So...does he need to have narrow hips and such for it to be girly, now? 'cause BOTH of the characters in that animation have pretty enough faces they could pass for girls. Thanks in advance for any clarification given!

I don't see anything in their faces that would qualify as feminine. The heads are "feral" more than either feminine or masculine.

Those just look like.... normal faces. Nothing looks feminine about them, they just look a bit tapered and that's more of like. being a mustelid-based species, and not a feminine thing.

For girly to apply, the male (or andromorph or maleherm) character has to subvert gender norms by being overtly feminine while not being a girl/girl bodied.

This, for example, is a post that warrants the girly tag.

....I have to disagree about them not looking feminine, but okay. Fine. I'll leave the tag be.

On a side note, can I ask about another tag confusion thing I've been facing, while I've got you guys here, or would I need to make another topic for that?

Going by your tag history, you seem to mistag girly a lot where it isn't warranted, so I'm thinking you're possibly misinterpreting what exactly is considered feminine by site standards.

Sobble is a toony, big headed feral lizard that really has no feminine traits and just has a big head and looks pleasured. Neither of those things are feminine. This does not warrant the girly tag, as there are no feminine features here at all. If anything, big_head and looking_pleasured would be more appropriate.

...To be fair, the girly tag is often misused by a lot of users, and probably needs a cleanup. I see it commonly mistagged on female/gynomorph/herm characters when its a tag specifically for subverting perceived gender norms in male/male bodied characters, not just for feminine things/femininity as a whole.

Also people often tend to misuse it instead of just plain crossdressing in a lot of cases, when the character is not feminine whatsoever and just wears women's clothing.

That...doesn't really answer the question of whether or not I can ask about a different tag confusion topic in this thread...

I was more or less trying to help tackle your issue with the girly topic at hand, since this is the thread for it. Yeah I'd recommend making a new thread for it if you wish.

Fair enough.
