Topic: Furaffinity image reverse searching, Kheina

Posted under General

As furaffinity does not reply to requests from sauceNAO to give permission to crawl and index content there (reply from saucenao creator) the ways to search for content from furaffinity has been abysmal to say the least. Lack of requirements to tag, put up title or even description, makes searching with words near impossible and even technically allows hiding content in plain sight.

Google does index furaffinity but only safe material and even that's extremely spotty. People have been archiving content from the site, but that's not exactly helping with finding the material to begin with.

And then, suddenly out of nowhere, this website exists:

https://kheina.com/

.
I have already found images with higher quality from FurryNetwork and found more than several sources to images on e621 thanks to this. On patreon they are talking of possibility of expanding the database into weasyl, which would allow possibly finding even more higher quality copies of artworks.

Because of this felt like this needs bit more attention as this would be highly useful tool for anyone helping with sourcing and file checking here at e621.

Considering how sauceNAO did get cold shoulder with permission, I would imagine this website is operating without permission from the furaffinity, but at the same time, fuck furaffinity. That website continues being horrible in a way they handle files themselves on top of searchability nonsense, so if they aren't going to do anything while still being one of the most used furry website, then it's services like kheina which have to step it up.

This sounds absolutely wonderful, but I can't get it to do anything. Tried art from here, art I happened to have on hand, even tried art pulled directly from Furry Network (which it says it has 100% crawled), none of it did anything.
Having a way to reverse search furaffinity art would be a godsend, but so far, this doesn't appear to be working. Maybe the backend is just down right now this second? Would be absolutely horrid timing if that were the case.

Have you tried downloading the image, and using the upload box, rather than linking to a URL?

Yes, that was the "Art I had on hand" step. I even tried downloading something from Furry Network really quickly and that equally did nothing.

yep, I just tried a Saucenao and Kheina (Used Kheina too just for the heck of it) search of an image from FA and it didn't source back to FA or DA. So I figured fine. So then I uploaded it. Then I did a double check and searched through the DA gallery and it turns out a higher quality version actually was on the artists DA. No biggie. I think it happened to me before. Fool me once shame on FA, fool me twice shame on me.

Damn it FA.

Super useful, unfortunately a lot of images that I would like to search for aren't even there.

looking at the site it's in the process of cataloguing FA, with only 12% done thus far. (Last I checked) so it's probably more liable to work on older posts.

They seem to be crawling from newest, so newest posts are the ones more likely to show up. Which is better approach in sense that if someone does use the service now, they most likely are looking up newer material for source.

Still 100% non functional, after trying in two different browsers. Is it working for other people?
I's submit a bug report, but I'm not creating an account on some random website to do so.

It works on my end. Are you blocking scripts or external resources?

Updated by anonymous

No, tried it with all the adblock stuff I usually have on off (firefox), and the other browser is 100% vanilla (edge).
Chrome ain't touching my machine, so if this is a case of the dev(s) couldn't be a***d to make it work properly outside of googles rising monopoly, I'm gonna be upset.

Well, for the moment, now it's throwing errors about connection refused for me, so maybe you've just been unlucky about when you try it.
