I've been seeing it too, for about a week now. Especially the webm posts. Anything longer than a few seconds, the buffer doesn't keep up.

My guess is the site was getting overloaded in the goal to the 2m post

ok, at least I know it's not my connection then. Even on images, they're loading like dial up internet.

The horror of 32 kbs I know too well

Exactly why I'm here, and glad to know to know it's more the site than my own internet.

... Well, not really glad. Hope it settles down eventually.

Well the issue is still here. And it's JUST the images. The site itself loads normally. IIRC e621 has a separate server for the images so this would explain that.
But it's weird because I don't see anyone else complain - just a handful of people here. Maybe there's some bottleneck that affects only certain areas of the world?

Edit: The site is just downright unusable. Even the miniatures take MINUTES to load, and full resolution images don't load at all some times while some other times they load relatively fine.

Where are you from, then?

I'm in south-west Germany and haven't encountered any slowdowns on e621.

Maybe we're browsing too fast? Downloading too much data in too short of a time.

I also started experiencing this maybe a few weeks ago. It jumps from full speed to a crawl from one moment to the other.

Are you viewing the full image by default? (Account -> Settings -> Image resize mode: Don't resize image)

I feel like there is some kind of connection limit, like images per minute or something.

I've noticed after browsing a few pages, I could no longer connect to static1.e621.net. So, all images, including thumbnails, won't show up any more.
Then, I'd have to wait for ~10 minutes for the site to be usable again. Another option for me is to reset my modem to change my IP, then images from static1.e621.net will load properly again (for a few pages).

It'd be great if someone, probably admin, could confirm if this is true.

I'm from Asia by the way.

I'm getting it too. It's nowhere near as bad now (~8:45 PM) as it was around noon. Probably just a whole lot of people browsing. Midwest US (southwest Ohio) here.

It seems to come and go. Server load or that protecting program or something. Nothing to do but wait a bit

Could it be cloudflare acting up again? Has anyone seen whether or not the problem persists on e926?

Updated by anonymous

It's definitely not our servers, but some routing issues we have no control over.
We can't do anything but wait for them to sort their own issues out.

I'm also experience the slow load problem, but for me it's come from using ipv6. (just ping e621.net and you will see)

So I just disable it (use ipv4 instead) and now the image loading is fast again.

I've been having severe issues as well in the last month. I wish I could look into it more in-depth but it all seems stable, just incredibly slow.

Intermittent issues here as well, from SoCal. Image load times just shoot through the roof. If I can help troubleshoot, lemme know.

P2P mode on NordVPN appears to somewhat fix the issue, otherwise horrendous load times here from the UK

Same here. Virgin Media by any chance? I feel like there could be an intentional slowdown. Me and a few people I know on Virgin are getting slow load speeds. People on BT / Sky, or me using a UK VPN, and the problems go away...

Feels like something fishy is going on.

Same problem here, first it's normal but after a while it slows down extremely. No other thing active which could affect it either (No Youtube, IPTV, etc.)

I'm near Hannover, Telekom full fiber connection in a low traffic area - and only this site and E926 are slowing down

Here is the weirdest part. For me without incognito it loads slow, with incognito it loads fast. Wtf?
I also don1th ave a vpn sooo I really have no idea why incognito mode makes such a huge difference.

YES

I just tested this myself, there's actually a huge difference.

Edit: The downside is that you have to manually get the original image when logged, which may slow things down enough that it's just not noticeable.

Edit2: Yeah, no change really.

Edit3: There is some suspect difference between incognito and normal I cannot put my finger on, and this is even when loading the full res images while logged out.

Anyone who had issues in this thread, check out from now on if the situation has improved and by how much.

I had the issue that occasionally everything would get slow as shit (like so slow that 100kb image would take a while to load), but in incognito it would load fast. At least I have not ran into loading issues like this in past 24 hours.
