Topic: Photos of traditional media deleted

Posted under General

I uploaded ten photos that were drawn traditionally (alcohol markers) and photographed instead of scanned. I know that normally this is not allowed unless the photographs are very well taken, but in this case I believe they all were.

Is there anyway to appeal the deletion?

They really were not well taken. You can see the background from sides, and the shadows and lights of environment show blatantly on the photos. Basically if you can see that it's a photo, it's not allowed.

There is background showing on a few of them, but some of them are as well taken as they could be. Would cropped versions of the images with background showing pass?

No, it's not only the fact that background is showing. You can still see from them that it's a photo because the shadows all over the paper. It requires pretty heavy color and shadow adjustments or very specific light conditions to get rid of the shadows in the texture of the paper.

I have to disagree. The lighting is very uniform and is unnoticeable on the vast majority of them.

Could you provide links to your images so they may be judged accordingly? Otherwise, we're only going off of deleted images and only the admins can see those.

Of course! I should have done that from the start.

I uploaded most of the non-human posts from Wicpers' twitter page.

Those photos aren't terrible, but they aren't good enough for our purposes either. The Uploading Guidelines specifically state photos must be "impeccable", and those are far from that mark.

You can look at them through the source links.

Alright, thanks for the responses everyone. I was hoping to share their art on here and it's very unfortunate that what they've posted is not in line with what the site allows. Hopefully they will post more digital art or scans in the future.

I'll be more mindful of what I upload from here on out.
