Topic: Is there a "No Edit" status for artists?

Posted under General

I was searching the forum for rules regarding edits and such, and found someone offhand mention "check if an artist has a 'no edit status.'"
Is this an actual separate option or is it something any artist can just put in their userpage notes? If it is a separate option, how does one set it up on an artist's page?
One of the artists I've been uploading art of has contacted me regarding how he doesn't want edits of his work without his permission and I'd really like to figure this out, if not just for his sake.

I assume what they meant is to check if the artist has a conditional_dnp against people editing their art, e621 has very customizable posting conditions for artists for content which they created that is allowed to be archived.

If an artist wants a CDNP I believe they need to contact the head admin NotMeNotYou or submit a takedown with posting conditions.

Once an artist has a CDNP their artist tag will implicate conditional_dnp and be added to said list of artists with the posting conditions. Those same conditions are oft transferred to artist notes by users for ease of access of said knowledge

As a general rule, it's also just polite to assume artists aren't gonna be automatically ok with outside edits to their art. It's always best to check if their page's say it's ok OR ask them directly.

Not like anyone will stop any edits unfortunately, even if an artist politely declines, but it's always nice to be thoughtful of the artist and how they feel.

Oh, yeah definitely. Not disagreeing on that point. (I wasn't uploading and/or making the edits that started showing up on his art by the way, sorry if i phrased it weird)
