Topic: 8 days, 8 posts still pending.

Posted under General

As I'm writing this, I'm getting ready to submit my 14th daily upload this month. As I'm writing this, eight of thirteen, soon to be nine of fourteen, posts stand pending approval. Like I said, these are daily uploads, and I'd like to continue uploading as November carries on. After tomorrow, if my posts aren't seen and hopefully approved, I won't be able to. While I understand that some mediocre cartoon artist isn't as pressing as Meesh or SicklyHypnos, it'd be nice to at least have my works looked at by a moderator. I also read the post about the beta, but it can't be taking up that many resources, right?

Edit: I've heard your calls, I'll wait.

There aren't too many janitor+ users, and we all do this work pretty manually minus contributors/priv/etc being able to be auto-approved. We have lives, and this can be an overwhelming amount of approvals sometimes. 8 days isn't honestly too bad. 30 days will auto delete via auto-mod.

I suggest patience

On top of which, I happen to know, from having watched it happen, that if you ask in the forum for your uploads to be approved, the staff can consider that alone to be a valid reason to delete them, instead. Which would permanently impact how many posts you can have pending at a time. Sooo...I also suggest caution.

Yeah. I mean, I've only ever seen them delete it when the person had the nerve to directly link the image they were asking for approval on, but still...probably best to avoid making threads like these altogether, and just have patience.

Given how many people ask this, you can easily see how staff would get fed up or frustrated answering it all the time.

I'm pretty sure those posts also didn't meet the minimum quality standards however. Despite the deletion reason, it wasn't "just" because they asked.

You really do sound incredibly impatient with this.

E6 regularly gets 900-1000 posts uploaded every day.

These are the people who deal with them, some are more active than others and some are really busy irl:
https://e621.net/user?name=&level=35&order=date

Remember that they're also volunteers, this isn't there job and they don't get paid for it.

They don't prioritise one artist over another, there's a large queue and they get to your post when they get to it, there's a reason for having a 30 day approval window. I can see how it might look like they do however, contributor+ posts get automatically approved, so it can look like they get approved quickly, when in fact they don't actually get approved at all.

I've had some of my posts take over two weeks, just be patient.

Also, if it's been in the queue for longer than, say, three weeks, chances are that most janitors will have seen it and feel it's not good enough to approve but not bad enough to delete, which is why there's an auto_moderator to automatically delete borderline posts.

I never said it wasn't understandable. I was merely telling Red a cautionary tale of just how dire the consequences can potentially be for making threads like this.

Well, the specific one I watched happen live, was certainly not a "minimum quality" issue. It got a few upvotes before it was deleted, so it had to be at least somewhat deccent. If anything, the "additional reason" would have to have been the fact it was ripped straight from a YouTube video...Still, fair point, I suppose.

People will literally upvote trash if they think it's funny, or contains a fetish they like. I know because I've done that.
Though I believe the one you're talking about wasn't quality related, I just told the admin in question to keep it deleted anyway as those YouTube drawing tutorials are outside of the scope of our page.

Whoever feeds the mods is running late. Once they aren't starving, they'll be more productive.

Upvotes don't mean it's high quality. People have downvoted high quality images and upvoted MSPaint memes.

Yup, that's the one I was talking about. :P

Well, not automatically, I'll agree there. But usually...
