Having to click it every time is a pain in the ass. It's also annoying to click on a laptop since the button is quite small.
Hopefully it can be removed once we finally get the homepage back?

(At least to my latest knowledge) It is done in a way that it should remember your choise in cookies and it should be easy to block or disabling javascript also disables it.
Additionally, logged in users do not get it as it's information that users are already consented towards with account.
This was kinda the aim of it, to make it not be annoying but also to show up on every single page so that people who click on shared links don't get furry porn blasted at them at full volume the moment they open the page.
Only reason for it to show up every time is that you do not save cookies, you do not log in and you have javascript enabled.

Or the most probable cause: incognito mode.

Why would it be? That site is also 18+ only.

e926? Doesn't that filter out all non-safe images?

Yes, but according to the terms of service, you still need to be 18. I'm guessing this is to cover their ass in case some explicit pictures are accidentally marked as safe, or something.
EDIT: Or in case there's ever a bug that allows for searching rating:e on e926, or something
