Topic: New Blacklist functionality is too extreme

Posted under General

Right now, the Blacklist completely removes posts from certain locations rather than giving them the blacklist thumbnail. This can be incredibly annoying and ruins certain features.

For instance, when viewing a pool of images, the blacklisted images are totally removed. But pools are built for sequential images / posts. Hiding posts entirely can make certain comics incomprehensible.

As another example, searching comments. Blocking the image makes it so that you can see that a comment was made on some image, but it is impossible to click on the image to see other comments or context.

There's a few other cases, but the overall net effect is this: In order to actually use the site and have passable functionality, I've been forced to disable my blacklist so frequently (and it remains disabled between sessions) that I've been running into way more posts I don't want to see than I ever did when posts weren't entirely hidden. In short, the new blacklist functionality is so restrictive that it has become counterproductive.

There are changes I do like. I like that when you click a blacklisted post the image will appear blocked and you can click download to view it. Gives more of an option to see tags and make an informed decision before viewing. But the removal of the blacklist thumbnail in places where it would be very useful over just hiding the posts is driving me crazy.

If liking forum posts were possible, I would like this one. I'm 100% in agreement with all of what you said.

I've mentioned this before but is it possible to bring back the option to decide whether or not I want the blacklist to affect user's avatars?

I would definitely like this option too, though it's not as high priority overall.

I appreciate that, thanks!
