Strictly speaking, the meme just involves replicating the same pose/angle as the original, hence post #2269465 also applies despite not having any direct Sailor Moon references.

...where in the crap did you get that idea from? The idea is to redraw a specific screencap from a particular episode and season, in the artist's own style. Doing crossover stuff where they draw another character, in the same outfit/pose/etc. was just artists deciding to do their own fun little twist on the original challenge. Which means that...

...this statement is false. That picture has nothing whatsoever to do with the Sailor Moon Redraw Challenge.

Yep, I totally agree with you. But "in the artist's own style" can also mean that the artist can take control of the premise so much that no actual trace of Sailor Moon still remains, despite still emulating the original meme. Hence, that post, whose original Pixiv listing is tagged #sailormoonredraw. Scroll through, and you'll find several other images in that vein.

That's like saying that a dessert taco, made with a filling reminiscent of apple pie in a flour tortilla, counts as "authentic Mexican food" because it "still emulates the original taco." No. No, it does not. Because at that point, you've changed it so completely from the original thing, it's become its own, separate thing, entirely. Similarly, by the point nothing is recognizable as being from Sailor Moon, you're no longer redrawing the still from Sailor Moon, just drawing your own original image, that just happens to have the same pose and camera angle.

Also, what tags an image has on another site, and whether or not the artist INTENDED it to be a thing that there's no visible evidence of, has absolutely fuck-all to do with what tags it gets on this site. TWYS explicitly says so.

I don't see why that still couldn't make an image a part of the meme.

Stop with the expletives. You can make your points just as well without resorting to any of that.
