Topic: Can I post these?

Posted under General

Sorry if this stuff is obvious, I've never uploaded to this website and I don't want to break any rules or go against wishes of the artists. Figured it was best to ask here.

The upload guidelines gave me the impression that all of this is fine, but I wanted to make sure.

So, recently I found a really nice piece of art, which happens to be the only upload of that artist's work on the website. I thought it was surprising how well-made the artwork is for being the only upload, so I checked the source on Twitter and found several other pictures that would fit here. I wanted to try uploading, but was off-put by the fact that the pictures have been public for a while and nobody has uploaded them. I couldn't find the artist on the DNP list. Is it possible to simply upload these straight away?

There are also a few other artists who's work already exists on e621, but some of their recent stuff isn't uploaded, is it ok to upload their art without doing anything extra if they aren't on the DNP list?

Finally, there is an artist on the DNP list - acidic - and according to their wiki page, "Only soft vore and maw shots are allowed" for upload. Looking through their FA page, most of their work fits the description and is consistent with their content that is already on the website, but hasn't been uploaded. Is there a reason for this, or would it be fine to post the artwork here? Does the same apply for artists with similar DNP conditions?

If it's not DNP nor commercial work, it should be kosher to post. If you're uncertain, message the artist and see if they're okay with it (something e621 encourages we do anyway).

A lot of the time, the reason an artist's material hasn't been uploaded is because nobody's gotten around to doing it.

There are thousands and thousands of artists out there, a few are bound to slip through the cracks.

Thanks for the info. I thought about asking the artists directly, but it feels sort of awkward because I have pretty much no presence on any of the platforms where they usually get contacted. Messaging them from a newly created profile out of nowhere feels weird, though maybe that's just me.
