Topic: [Feature] "Darker" Subsection of Site for Extreme Fetishes

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

This is my first suggestion for the site. I hope it's a good one!

Overview: My vision for this is to have a separate section (Most likely a tab at the top of the site) that will be reserved for things that most people aren't into and/or are disgusted by, and therefore currently get a lot of downvotes on the site. This would include things like snuff, gore, et cetera. I feel like it would give artists and viewers alike the chance to have a place where they can enjoy their freaky stuff without other people hating on them. (Saying this as one of the aforementioned freaks)

Important?: Having this section would give more freedom to those who are into these extreme fetishes, and simultaneously keep them hidden from those who don't want to see it but haven't blacklisted all the tags. Mistagging is also a problem, so sometimes people see posts that would normally be blacklisted. The new section would solve that.

What's affected?: Ideally, a "Dark Side" (I dunno, I'm sure there's a more creative name) tab would be added that will lead to a part of the site dedicated to extreme fetishes. There could also be a warning when a user clicks it for the first time, telling them what it's about and verifying that they want to continue.

Just use a blacklist and properly tag things. If you're going to cite mistagging as an issue, then there'd be nothing stopping people from mistakenly adding their post into the wrong section.

A blacklist would defiently help, but I think one thing is people not blacklisting for whatever reason, and then coming and complaining on the page even though it's their fault/ purposefully not blacklisting so they can complain/ect.

IE like stuff like Whitekitten commissions. People come to downvote the hell out of it because they don't personally like the content instead of blacklsiting and moving on.

I personally like the dark side idea, although I don't think it would be something the majority of users would want/something that would be easily added.

Exactly. Most posts I see with extreme fetishes have a couple hundred downvotes and a bunch of hate comments. I'm sure it doesn't make creators feel great, and it just creates an overall toxic vibe. If people could just live and let live, this wouldn't be an issue. In theory, the "dark side" tab could help filter out who sees stuff that most people hate. That creates a more positive environment for everyone, because people who don't want to see it simply won't see it, and those who do get to enjoy it in peace.

While there will no doubt be a few mistakes in its early days, creators will no doubt catch on quickly that they can post in the "dark side" tab. Posts that end up in the regular feed could be informed that there is a new place to post, and then relocated.

Cue endless complaints about what should be in the "dark side" and whether a particular post is "extreme" enough to go there. Having a separate section would also make browsing and searching a pain; imagine if e6 and e9 were separate, and you couldn't get e9's posts from e6 and vice-versa.

e6 already has a default blacklist which includes things like cub and scat, which new users need to explicitly remove from their blacklist after signing up. What would a separate subsection add aside from complaints that "my fetish isn't bad enough to be separated!" (or worse, someone not daring to say something because they don't want to out themselves as being into a particular fetish).

Tags have been around for ages, and despite all the information and resources, plenty of people still don't add them. Again, what's stopping people from making the same mistakes?
