The tag alias #46565 action_lines -> motion_lines has been approved.

Reason: Looking at images and wikis for both, they seem to cover the same thing.

+1, they definitely seem to be used for the same thing.

I looked through all of action_lines last night, removed the tag from 57 posts that contained no motion_lines, and swapped in emanata for the bulk of those. In the extreme majority of cases, emanata are not motion lines. I also added emanata wherever obviously applicable and did not remove action_lines where motion lines were present. Some people definitely tagged action_lines long ago in lieu of emanata because the emanata tag didn't exist or they didn't know it existed.

FWIW, I've erroneously added action_lines to 20-30 posts in the past when I meant motion_lines.

I didn't know there was a specific term for those kinds of lines until I looked at the wiki link on your post; I probably would've tagged them as surprise_lines or something similar if I'd encountered them previously.
