Topic: Broken pedestals: never meet your heroes

Posted under General

It turns out that some of the artists I've been looking up to were jerks all along. I know, I should've expected it. But it's still quite disheartening when it happens. To think the person you respected for so long, just turned out to be another jerk. It's awful, but it's at least a good learning experience.

It shows that, at the end of the day, those kinds of people are still people, and they have their own fair share of faults. And that you should learn from them, so you don't end up treating people the same way they treated you. Be the hero to others that they couldn't be for you.

I'm sorry for cluttering the forums up with a post like this, but I just had to get this off my chest.

There's always a chance for anyone to grow as a person. True, they may have had their chance to establish rapport and ruined it, but I still hope you are able wish any of them well in their future endeavours. At the very least. (This is coming from someone who is pretty hopeless by his own estimation.)

No one is as great as the ideal version someone may have in mind for them :O

I also feel like there may be an element of getting too involved. A person should have enough sense not to do so, but it's not always so easy to judge.

It is of my opinion that if someone is truly remorseful for their actions, they will accept the consequences of their actions willingly and fully. Even if that means accepting consequences that are long reaching and stick with you until the day you die.

eh, most of the artists that have given me the time of day have been decent people. I think what happens is when you idolize someone you forget that they are people, and have their own voices outside of the lines on canvas.
