Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: slave_auction -> slave_market

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #47045 slave_auction -> slave_market has been rejected.

Reason: Unless we want to make a distinction between cases where slaves are sold for a fixed price and those where slaves are sold to the highest bidder I think the slave_market and slave_auction tag should be merged.

EDIT: The tag alias slave_auction -> slave_market (forum #295525) has been rejected by @Millcore.

I kind of feel like markets and auctions are different concepts and have their own tags. slave_auction could imply auction. slave_market should imply market. If they were the same tag, neither could be implied. Then again not a lot of those tags remind me of a market. A market doesn't usually refer to individual sales.

I moved all of the auctions I could find out of the slave market tag. If this change is made, at least all of the auction tags need to be tagged as auction as well.

I think what would solve my dislike of the current setup would be a tag indicating that a character is being bought or sold regardless of setting.

I think I agree with this. Ultimately, the definitions are nearly the same and there's not enough of a difference to justify separate tags. I don't think many people would differentiate with the two words on their own either. Maybe a new tag, 'bidding_war" to clarify certain instances?
