Topic: What happens when two artists have the same name?

Posted under General

This artist operates under the name "Tsubasa" (つばさ). This artist also operates under the name "Tsubasa". Beyond Tsubasa being a decently common name in its own right, how would they be differentiated here within the tags?

Try to find a different name if possible. This Tsubasa has a Twitter where they go by "GROWTH_pix", so that could be used instead (and have their artist entry include Tsubasa and つばさ as alternate names).

Ah, fair enough for those two. As a hypothetical, at least, what if these two were only on Pixiv and therefore only had the name "Tsubasa"?

I might try to include their pixiv ID somehow. Maybe tsubasa_(pixiv_606974), though it is a bit unwieldy.

Does this specific problem only exist because pixiv uses numerical IDs alongside free-pick display names? (edit: typed this before noticing it's つばさ vs つばさ@お絵描き強化月間)
I think Twitter allows duplicate display-name as well, but the account address is usually a unique text handle?

I always found it unfortunate when an artist's handle is just a generic term that you can't use for searching, or so common there's five+ of them.

Pretty much. The @お絵描き強化月間 part is just an addendum to their name, meaning something like "drawing enhancement month". Their Twitter display name is つばさ@コミッションがんばり月間, where the @コミッションがんばり月間 means something like "commission endurance/perseverance month", so an iron artist kind of thing I suspect. I don't know if Pixiv allows artists to change their display name like Twitter does or not.

Yes. The @GROWTH_pix handle (and https://twitter.com/GROWTH_pix URL) is unique, and can't be changed without invalidating old URL links. The display name can be anything and can be changed whenever.

i believe the convention is no underscore, just: tsubasa_(pixiv606974)
most examples on danbooru seem to follow it
(e621 doesn't really have enough examples to draw conclusions from)
