Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: blood_from_mouth -> bleeding_from_mouth

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

There seems to be more blood_from_* tags than bleeding_from_*. I don't know what other people would prefer, but I think I'd go with blood_from_. But either way, it might be a good idea to alias all the other blood/bleeding tags too.

I suppose if I had to choose, I'd go with "bleeding" since it's a verb... but it doesn't matter to me beyond removing the redundancy. I really only chose bleeding_from_* because it had a wiki page, not because of any real preference on my part.

I agree that aliasing all the other blood/bleeding tags is a good idea.

I know nothing about how the blood tags are normally handled, but I'd probably vote to go with blood_from_* since a character doesn't need to be actively bleeding in their mouths to have blood in it, or coming out of it.

I'd like to point out that "blood from" implies the blood is coming from their mouth, rather than there simply being blood on the mouth from another source.

"Blood from", to me, simply sounds like there's blood currently coming out of a character's mouth. Whether this be because their mouth is bleeding, or they coughed up blood, or they are, for example, a vampire and some of the blood they just drank is leaking out their mouth. Whereas "bleeding from" , to me, sounds like the source of the blood is some kind of wound directly in their mouth.

Therefore, thinking about TWYS, I feel like blood_from_* makes more sense. Although this is really just arguing semantics, and in the end I suppose it doesn't matter. Just wanted to give my opinion on it, was all.

I'd argue that there needs to be a difference between "from" and "on". Blood coming from a mouth is different from blood that just happens to be on a mouth, and the tags I listed are both overwhelmingly used to denote bleeding.

Seconding Vulkalu's point of view. Using bleeding_from_mouth doesn't cover other cases where blood is coming out of a character's mouth but where the bleeding may not be occurring there. I also would agree that blood being on your mouth is definitely a different thing (ex: a character with a bloody mouth from eating something). But that's different from the distinction being made here.

Then perhaps aliasing the tags would be inappropriate, since they actually represent two different things.
