Reason: The artist (me) changed their name from Ryoku to Paliken.

Ryoku now only refers to one of my characters and no longer to me as the artist.

So you changed your artist name to paliken, but one of your characters is still called ryoku? If that's the case alias wouldn't help you.

If I understood you right, following BUR should be created:

unimply ryoku -> conditional_dnp
unalias denryu -> ryoku
unalias ryokuu_(artist) -> ryoku
unalias りょく -> ryoku
unalias ryoku_(artist) -> ryoku
unalias ryokuu -> ryoku
mass update ryoku -> paliken

Then, when it's approved, this one:

imply paliken -> conditional_dnp
alias denryu -> paliken
alias ryokuu_(artist) -> paliken
alias りょく -> paliken
alias ryoku_(artist) -> paliken
alias ryokuu -> paliken

You can request name change on e621 as well.

I don't see why an alias wouldn't help... Its about changing the artist tag. Not the character tag.
Plus it was done before, for my FurAffinity name (denryu). And that worked just fine last time...

I know i can change my account name, but I figured i'd do that once this tag change is done to not cause confusion or something.

The bulk update request #2903 has been rejected.

remove implication ryoku (0) -> conditional_dnp (125698)
remove alias denryu (0) -> ryoku (0)
remove alias ryokuu_(artist) (0) -> ryoku (0)
remove alias りょく (0) -> ryoku (0)
remove alias ryoku_(artist) (0) -> ryoku (0)
remove alias ryokuu (0) -> ryoku (0)
mass update ryoku -> paliken

Reason: Name change confirmed, deploying BUR.

"Ryoku" isn't unique to you, doesn't make sense to always redirect it to your new name (that's what tag alias does, in case you didn't know).

EDIT: The bulk update request #2903 (forum #340536) has been rejected by @Waydence.

Maybe I don't understand it correctly - in that case I'm sorry and just ignore the explanation; I know an alias redirects to another tag. And that's specifically why I asked for it.

You see, on this site, the tag 'Ryoku' IS unique to me. There is no other artist called Ryoku in this community. - Searching that tag only lists my art and nobody elses.
Therefore it's not ambiguous at all and I think an alias would be the right choice because of that. People might still search for my old name.

(I'm a aware its a common name in general, and that's the whole reason behind the name change. But this is about the tag on this specific website only - and there is no second artist with that name on here.)

Of course if one day a new artist starts using the name Ryoku for himself, then of course the name shouldn't refer to me any longer and the alias should then be removed. But as of now - that's not the case.

But in the end, as long as the pictures that are currently tagged with Ryoku as the artist are changed to Paliken, that's all that I need.
I just think that adding an alias would be the best option for this, because of the reasons I just listed, but it doesn't really matter to me. And I know too little about the reasoning behind certain tagging habbits on this site to make any other points aside from these.

Perhaps not other artists, but what about characters?

Well, what about them? I assume they wouldn't be affected by my request. I didn't ask to have an alias for every tag that starts with Ryoku*

In fact I never asked to have the character tags changed at all. I requested to have Ryoku refer to Paliken. Because THAT tag (Ryoku, without any brackes or underscores to it) refers to me.

I don't see how the several characters that are ALSO called Ryoku (but with underscores and brackets attached to them) are even affected by this. These are different tags.

Although I guess the tag Ryoku_(Character) should also be changed to Ryoku_(Paliken), but i guess that would be a new thread and isn't part of this request.

But people may still tag ryoku intending to refer to one of the other characters, not realizing the tag refers to/is aliased to a specific artist (you), causing a mistag. When a tag can be mistaken for different things, it should be disambiguated (alias ryoku -> ryoku_(disambiguation), then ryoku_(disambiguation) being set to the Invalid category and given a wiki page explaining what the tag could refer to), so that it helps people that try to use it to realize it's ambiguous and they should use a more correct tag. And since there are multiple characters named Ryoku, a tag like ryoku_(character) isn't apparent about which Ryoku it refers to, either.

I've approved the request and disagree with making a disambiguation in this case, if the c_DNP tag gets incorrectly applied to one of the other people / characters it's easier for us to see and fix than if the disambiguation is applied and never changed to the proper artist tag on the DNP list. Ensuring the DNP tag gets applied correctly takes precedence.

I don't recall the implication causing problems in the past 2 years it's existed, so I don't think not "fixing" it with a disambiguation is going to suddenly cause problems.
