Topic: Tag alias: Rumble -> Rumble_(lol)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #59358 rumble -> rumble_(lol) has been rejected.

Reason: As of now the Rumble tag refers specifically to the League_of_Legends character of that name. However I have seen people frequently use the Rumble_(lol) tag for the character instead. Understandably so, given that the tag is more specific and most other league champions also have (lol) after their names for more clarity. There are other characters and medias named Rumble which can make things confusing as well. Over time I frequently had to either rename the Rumble_(lol) tags back to Rumble for the sake of consistency or remove the Rumble tag altogether when it was used for a non-league character at times. Because having 2 tags for the same character is rather redundant and for the sake of clarity to prevent any further confusion regarding the tags in the future I'd suggest for Rumble_(lol) to overall take its place. It would prevent a lot of issues in the long term.

EDIT: The tag alias rumble -> rumble_(lol) (forum #349570) has been rejected by @furrypickle.

Should be disambiguated. If people are sometimes using the rumble tag for things that aren't the League of Legends character (as there are a number of other characters with the name, along with other meanings of the word), an alias like this will cause those uses to mistag the LoL character without indicating what should've been used.

I thought the same but I didn't know how else to properly address such a case so I just took the plunge. I suppose I should just provide another suggestion to alias Rumble to one with the _(disambiguation) suffix then. Though I gotta ask what is going to happen with all of its tagged images once that is done. Can someone with higher clearance mass change the tags into the Rumble_(lol) tag or is that something that would need manual changes from users on each post? The latter would be quite cumbersome considering how all of the current posts tagged with Rumble really are just the League of Legends character as of right now as a result of all the maintenance and clean-ups people have done around it over time in an effort to keep it consistent to that character. One could really just rename the all posts tagged with Rumble into Rumble_(lol) at once without any issue as it is not a concoction of many different characters thrown into one pot to require an evaluation of each individual post.

mass update rumble -> rumble_(lol)

Reason: Using a BUR to mass update to do a one-time swap-over would do what you want. Then we'd be free to disambiguate plain, old rumble.

Upon rejection of the Opening Request, we can

alias rumble -> rumble_(disambiguation)
category rumble_(disambiguation) -> invalid

being sure to create the wiki page in the process.

Alright, I see. Thank you for that. It's been a bit of a headache for me to figure out how to exactly go about such particular cases.

...Should probably have approved stage 1 first.

Anyway, what is this nonsense? The entire rumble(coleson) (née buttslut_rumble) tag seems to exist to distinguish drawings of the LOL character commissioned by one particular user.

Yeah I saw those, i'm not sure what to make of it since it seems to be a variation of the character? I don't know think that warrants a whole new character tag though.

mass update rumble_(disambiguation) -> rumble_(lol)

Reason: Let's see if we can repair this. I'm assuming the tag was cleaned beforehand - there's nothing obviously wrong in the current results.

Assuming it was ever cleaned up (which not everyone does before suggesting something), it's also been four months. Regardless of when they happened though, there are a few out of place in there. So when looking through it I decided that aliasing/mass_updating it automatically would mean that these get all mistagged. And posts like this are arguably too ambiguous to tell whose cock that really is. So yes, I left it for manual sorting. However, I can tag script the bulk of the obvious ones real quick.

And I'll also look into that weird coleson mess in a minute. That certainly looks promising.

create alias rumble(coleson) (0) -> rumble_(lol) (504)
create alias rumble_(coleson) (0) -> rumble_(lol) (504)

Reason: On second thought, considering the usage history, they'll probably just add it back. But I still can't see anything that makes it any different from normal Rumble. So I'm adding an alias as well.

Handled Strikerman's thread. And then also found another one kicking around as well (this one). I'm surprised it didn't show in the metasearch, only directly in the BUR search apparently. That's unhandy. So I'll have to remember that.
