The bulk update request #4689 is active.

create alias brony (2) -> invalid_tag (0)
create alias bronie (0) -> invalid_tag (0)
create alias bronies (0) -> invalid_tag (0)

Reason: "Brony" is a term for (male) My Little Pony fans, and it seems certain artists/posters tag it on images that would be of interest to bronies. It makes as much sense to tag as "for_pokemon_fans". I could instead alias it to MLP, but I'm not 100% sure if some people may tag it on MLP-like images that aren't actually MLP.

EDIT: The bulk update request #4689 (forum #364155) has been approved by @slyroon.

# duplicate of has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through bur

That little thing again.

I think you will need two BURs to get this through.

I can see the tag is horribly misused, but is there any valid usage for it like these posts?

I'm not sure. "Brony" is essentially "MLP fan", so would we tag things like anime_fan, digimon_fan, furry_fan, etc, for human characters showing an interest in those things? Seems a bit much to me.

Well, we have otaku.

I think brony is a valid tag to keep, it's like a meme or theme present in an artwork, illustrating a stereotype of a given group.

Since the tag has some searchabilty value, I'm against aliasing it to invalid, though I'm not opposed to aliasing it to "mlp_fan" or something similar, it feels more descriptive, and should prevent future mistags that currently happen with this tag like post #3395436 and other posts, where "brony" is tagged simply because the artwork is pony themed.

I don't think aliasing it to "mlp_fan" would stop people from using brony/bronie/bronies on pony-related art. It just means "mlp_fan" would be mistagged as much as brony was, because some people will tag it for being pony-related and leave it for others to clean up. That example in particular even, was given a few invalid or inapplicable tags along with brony others had to fix afterward.

I'm also not sure I like otaku as a tag either. Its use ranges from just having a shirt with the word, hugging a body pillow, or really liking someone. There's not much commonality beyond "a character likes something or someone" or "the word appears somewhere".

Otaku has this post under it and I haven't searched through it yet.

Not a good first impression if you ask me. Otaku seems redundant in definition with social outcast or nerd for smplicity's sake.
