For me, it's probably rule34 and e6, and mix of Google image, I was denying of liking furries in either ways, now here am I, accepting I have a thing for furries and talking to them currently. Though I'm not considering myself as a furry.

I was ALWAYS a furry.
I liked animals in a sense of kinship more
than I do with people, back when I was 11.

So I looked it up to see if there was any info about that attitude.
Other than being asocial, I got a google result about furries.
Did some digging, liked what I saw, then got into the fandom.

I really got into it when I saw YT vids about furry conventions like. Which were the ones in Atlantic city or others.
And furstuit dance competitions.

Despite it all. I'm more on the "Toxic Furry" side, the side people say give a "bad name to furries"
Which is me, consuming my daily dose of Furry NSFW.

There's a spectrum to being a furry really. Consuming Furry NSFW is just barely passing the red line.
and YIFF? Now ya just reached furry degeneracy.
Not that I'd judge.

I just think furry NSFW is hot and there's much to be evaluated than your typical SFW furry art.

Edit: Erased this comment here, posted a new comment not realizing I already posted here

Stumbled over art from Jeremy Bernal one day, Maid Marian and Lola Bunny laid the foundation when I was a child though.

not exactly sure but I think it started with me browsing boorus which then escalated to me following a bunch of furry tumblrs and twitter accounts. I'm pretty sure watching too many saturday morning cartoons was what initially fostered my interest.

A combination of pragmatism due to greater porn availability than hentai and interacting with a lot of furries on an ancient flash chat site.

More or less the same story with me. I always was a furry. Only that I don't know if I could call myself as "asocial". I would say that my values and interests given strictly by temperament, and those of society around me, "clashed bad".

Even before the furry fandom existed, I already in my mind put characters in Disney movies as my interest, including in a love-romantic light. I hated to go to school. Elementary school was a hell, and even more Highschool. As I finished classes I went to Cinema to see Disney movies. In those times with a ticket, and as nobody checked if you stayed more that one presentation - sometimes when necessary, doing some tricks - I stayed and watched over and over the same movie. From 4 PM to sometimes 11 PM. I didn't even needed to eat. I saw the "Aristocats" like 100 times... "The Lady and the Tramp" 50 times... and if in a remote lost cinema that required you to change buses like four or five times, there was "Bambi", I was there. That was in the late 70s, early 80s.

That was my life for several years. I didn't had plans for the future... never thought of myself, then, if I wanted to be an Engineer, or Dentist, or Biologist... my immediate mission, was to prevent that society and my family, turned me mad, or suicide myself. And the "Furry" - something for which a word had not yet been invented, later I knew - did that for me.

Later, much later, I was able to think about something as having personal "goals" in life. Much later I was able took decisions about myself, good or bad... as the "Real World" little by little cleared and was a bit less and less of a haze of threats, uncertainties and malignity around me.

When I was in the University, I still speculated a lot of times, about artists, or a club of people that could draw the images that crossed my mind in those many years. And one day, as I worked in the financial department of a company, I was navigating in the desktop in my office, and I saw a strange image of a "funny animal" in an unusual setting... "Furry art", was written in a corner of the image.

;-).

Tracing it back to the very beginning, I think it was the Thea sisters (the offshoot series of the Geronimo Stilton books). At the school library in elementary, those cartoon mice were the first characters that ever gave me weird feelings. Not long after, we watched the Silverwing animated TV show in class, and same thing, I couldn’t get those cartoon bats out of my head for a week. Eventually, I stumbled across the furry fandom when browsing google one day, and though I didn’t join right away (I didn’t have an account on any website at the time, I was just a curious lurker), I instantly decided it would be the first online community I would join. And it was!

Spyro. At some point, finding fanart translated to finding porn, and then I was interested.

Some of my favorite childhood films were Robin Hood and Balto, then I got into video games and played stuff like Pokémon and Sonic the Hedgehog and Star Fox.

The Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics. They drew Sally hot and that was good enough material for me to use. Not only that, they added a myriad of other sexy fox and cat women like Lupe and Hershey. They were super easy to draw too. So before i had internet i was essentially drawing my own furry porn. Simpler times.

Oh yeah and Sonic Adventure 2 and giving Rouge giggling boobs.

Maid Marian a baddddddie 🥵

It really seems that a lot get into this already as tweens, i suppose it hits the spot for that age where you are transforming from kid to adolescent. That beautiful mix of cute and sexy

Back in the AOL chatroom days, I was 14 and RPing, stumbled on the fact that girls with tails are hot. That lead to werewolves. Which lead to furries.

I have this theory that what you're exposed to sexually around 10-14 is what your core kinks become. Your sexuality is developing at that time and whatever makes an impression sets the mold.

The first porn i ever saw was a videotape my dad had in a closet. It was just little segments, but one was a secretary, and another was a glory hole thing. I have a thing for clothes, for girls in professional attire, and gloryholes/public stuff.... Also around this time I saw the movie Exit to Eden on HBO, and woah turns out I'm also into BDSM. (And thankfully NOT into Rosie O'Donnell and Dan Akryod).

Pokémon was the catalyst of course. But I went 11 years (98-09) before seeing any nsfw of it

My Little Pony did most of the heavy lifting but it wasn't the only series.
Madagascar 2 & 3 did a lot too, also the 2011 reboot of Thundercats
then few years later i got obsessed with Fnaf when the first game came out

idk me curious

Watching shows on Cartoon Network like Regular Show, Scaredy Squirrel, The Looney Tunes Show, and The Amazing World of Gumball. Also, before that I used to watch Pink Panther, Arthur, and Martha Speaks. So, talking animals have always been a part of my life even when I was super young. So, when I grew up and become more sexually mature I also began to sexualize many of these characters that I grew up with. Later I made an e621 account. But not all of it is about porn. I still love watching furry movies. You know, new stuff by Dreamworks like The Bad Guys or Puss in Boots 2, but I also like to watch classic films such as The Secret of Nimh as well as some other lesser known films. Unicorn Wars is also a great film. I just love the way the characters look in all the movies and cartoons. My life would be so boring without them and all the artists that work hard to make them.

I just remember being really into Disney foxes, like Maid Marian and Vixey when I was a kid.
I remember in the early 2000s, I used to play internet games on random websites. Some of these websites hosted an 18+ section. My curious self, just hitting puberty, would peruse these sections, and I remember finding furry porn. One I specifically remember was this one it blew my mind lol.
Once I discovered Rule 34, I would find Disney furry porn on there.

Everything kinda changed around 2010 when Alpha & Omega and TUFF Puppy came out. This is when I kinda realized I was really attracted to furs. Then MLP:FiM came out, and I remember that I actually saw porn of that show before I knew it was even a show lol!

I used to be really disgusted with myself over it, it used to really bother me. I felt like it was super taboo to be into, I just remember being like "why do I find this shit so hot? What is wrong with me??" haha. None of my friends have ever admitted it, but I remember some of them making subtle references to beating to furry porn, so I felt like it wasn't as uncommon as I thought. So I eventually embraced it when I googled something like "top furry porn websites" and e621 popped up. I made an account shortly after and the rest is history. Now furry porn is just one thing I beat off to lol.

I am not like, in the mainstream furry community or anything, I just jack off to furry porn lol. I remember for a long time, I felt a little ashamed because even furries would look at how I interact with the community like I am a degenerate (not like they're wrong honestly haha). But it seems like more people are open about being into furry porn or something, because it seems like the community is dense with new art and artists now. Heck, furry porn became a meme a couple of times haha. Times seemed to have changed, I dunno lol.

TLK, even decades ago there was rule34 and I was a horny teenager on a mission to score, furry IRC and Second-life era brought me my first gf forever sealing my preferences

I blame Pokemon and Disney for turning me into a furry. (Totally Spies for... a LOT of kinks I developed)
The first thing I did when getting unmonitored acces to internet I checked if there really was porn of everything and tested it by searching for Pokemon porn. Turned out the myth was right and that anthro stuff was easier accessible than normal porn.

Funny thing: I didn't know what the term 'furry' meant until 2018. I thought it just referred to the fact the characters have fur, I wasn't aware of the furry community at all. When I made a few comments towards a friend of mine that indicated I saw several anthro girls as hot he replied 'Fucking furry' and I was like 'Oh... THAT is what that means! In that case I am a furry.'.

I've always been more comfortable with animated porn than live-action and anime catgirls kind of naturally led to furries and monster girls. That being said I never really considered myself a FURRY furry because I didn't have a fursona, until the thought of being more social in the fandom crossed my mind and then it was almost invasive until I got it written down. 🤣

13-year-old me was a nervous wreck who didn’t think it was okay to masturbate to real girls (which I know now is mostly bullshit), so I somehow got fox girls into my head and the rest is history.

Of course, I didn't want to consider myself a furry until I played Night In The Woods, but such is life.

Fr tho probably had to be FNAF fan art. Idk how tf they made a robot fox hot but god Damn did they do foxy right

I'm not a furry, I'm just not less attracted to anthropomorphic animals than humans. I blame Disney for it.

I'm also a satin and cotton if you're going to ask me regarding fabrics.

In seriousness, I was more into muscle men at first. Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry on television were awakenings, then the Internet first from the website of the late Sudonym and a comic called "Syndicate Brigade" by Tomcat, then discovering Furaffinity, and searching orcs on e621, and it didn't stop there.

that rlly homo

like me

Some guy online showed me Renamon porn when I was like 12, and then procceded to essentially groom me into a furry for a few years before he got bored of me and went off somewhere. Here I am at 28, a furry because of some weirdo. thanks internet.

first time i heard of em it was in an unsavory manner that made me kinda fear them (i was like 7-9 i think)

but i'm 99% sure what finally warmed me up to the furry fandom is, somehow, a random ass channel dedicated to a game series i like. guy running it had a dragon sona and i think it kinda put me off at first but he was incredibly calming to listen to and the silly animal people grew on me more and more

and just a few months ago i made a dragon sona lmao

Teenage mutant ninja turtles (Comic books)
Not exactly the definition of cute or fuzzy, but it did set me on a path of further exploration.

When I was about 12 or 13 some weirdo decided to show me Renamon porn. I got hooked and the dude essentially groomed me until I was like 17 or so. 28 now and I'm stuck being a fucked up furry. Good times.

bluds got dementia at 28

I already knew about the furs quite a while ago, but never go into them, of course hearing all of the bad stuff, then i started looking for yiff and saw some of the most popular animations out there (eipril mainly). Then an NSFW discord subserver got openned, and i started "spaming" scp-1471 command to search for images, there i discovered e621, and well... thats where the rabbit hole started :D

also not that i was just ignoring you, thats awful to hear and really hope you're doing alright

i was a really sheltered autistic kid, so i grew up associating with animals more. i had no interest in media without animals/monsters. i grew up on disney movies, hamtaro, kaiju movies, and sonic the hedgehog. i really only learned of furries when i was about 9 or 10, discovering ancient animation memes via warrior cats fandom. i noticed the artists all represented themselves with colorful animals, and thats when i made my first fursona.

I find them cool, and I find anthro character designs more interesting than human character designs.

Yeah probably same for me. I was going to say something like the cartoons or games I grew up with but I can’t recall having any furry tendencies until I got online.

Theres a lot more distinct content for furries, not even counting porn here. Humans have little variation and human characters tend to look about the same after a while. Furries have a million creatures to make a person and all sorts of patterns and colors to make them

I think humans have a instinctual urge to reproduce and a biological need to scratch that itch. To see creatures that exibit features of both human and familiar animals seem entirely plausible to me because our reality is a big place. I got into collecting a long time ago maybe when I was still in school.
The first time I saw it my little fucking mind blew. I was thinking that if we ever make contact with aliens a lot of them might actually resemble some of the art I've seen.
I think it's interesting because because I always thought about what clapping cheeks with a alien that looks like that.
I find the act of sex beautiful and seeing any creature partake in it reminds me of the primal urge to reproduce.
Think about it this way it's far more likely that other planets that have a similar biosphere to earth and sise could harbor such beings. I want a furry wife

aand.. how did we get to cheek clapping, again?

At the time before I stepped foot into the community I loved wolves and werewolves alot mainly for a couple of characters I really loved at the time, that being Seveta from Golden Sun and Drew from the Wereworld series. So I kinda blame them for my initial interest in furries and the like.

Can confirm.

Swung from violently anti-degenerate teenage 'chan indoctrination smoothly into [REDACTED].

But mostly how I managed to gain an attraction to fluff/fur texture. Wet hole is just a nice side-order.

Neuroelectric patterns wild.
