Tickets and mod actions are (mostly) public. That's one of the fun things about the site. I get a little dopamine hit when I report someone then see them get chewed out.

On the other hand, when I reported someone a few days ago I felt kind of bad about it. At least they didn't get banned.

That's a fact of life though: actions have consequences.

(and consequences here can be eventually appealed so they're not necessarily permanent either)

Looking at them doesn't really provide much clarity though.

I like reading where someone had alts, got banned for it, AFTER getting banned on their original account for harassment. Yeah, we don't need that shit. XD

I only feel either pity or confusion. Especially younger accounts than mine.

I'd bet that most of them are just immature people that know well enough not to disclose their age, but break the rules a dozen other ways.

Most likely from not reading the rules before joining and thinking they can do or say whatever they want without consequence. And then cry "abuse" after receiving said consequences that are clearly outlined within the rules they didn't bother to read.

Also a good point, plus they'd probably be surprised about rules and discipline online considering that moderation on other boorus is much looser (ie. roleplaying in the comments on r34).

Now imagine being on this side, and getting all the juicy, unfiltered details
It's great running around and seeing what's happened over the years, or even seeing the things I caused before I was staff, in full detail which I wouldn't have seen previously

As far being a person with a record and still haven't been severely punished yet, I like users who got ultimately worst fates than me by seeing their names crossed out name and their date of how long they've be gone, it made feel me a bit better about myself.

Fair enough. I still do appreciate the banning of these people. It's a nice filter for people thinking this is your ordinary porn site.

It feels like online conflict has a lot of the same problem because there's a certain "Theater of Safety" to it that doesn't seem to correlate with reality. As in, some person does a horrible thing (as they often do), it's documented, it's answered with a punitive action, you're supposed to feel catharsis, now. Because the source of a malevolent deed has been destroyed. Except the catharsis is only fleeting, because that wasn't the one and only source of that act. So a sort of feedback loop is formed in perpetuity where the bad thing keeps happening, and as strong as the neural association is, the dopamine release starts to fade, and you're not the same anymore. The pursuit has made you stranger, too.
You need stronger hits of Karma, the theater becomes more absurd...... I have to imagine this is why certain segments of online activity (Youtube's "drama community") are so visibly estranged from normalcy. Because it's an addiction. With a demand that requires a supply. Not necessarily an industry that e621 provides (It's not Twitter, Youtube, The National Enquirer, CourtTV, CNN or Fox News, etc), and it's not really built to provide that supply (thank fucking christ), but,
Something as basic and primative as seeing someone was banned on here for saying something awful, it's still kinda limbic in the same way isn't it?

I honestly feel sorry for the MODS who join the team.
I noticed they're like "one of us, one of the BROS. Commenting, helping tags. Being a real good sport."

Then few months later, they turn jaded and become a bit passive/aggressive.
Like I understand their job is hard but....................what the hell did you SEE man??? WHAT DID YOU SEE TO TURN YOU LIKE THIS????

If you scroll around the tickets list. You'd know. And they keep the user complaints (and condemations) private.

Also it's a job, not exactly all sun shine and rainbows.

It takes a lot of effort to get the more common "Privileged" title, idk if mods get paid but they have done a lot of work so I can only assume that they have a personal interest in this site itself and (at least most) of them are fair and reasonable.

Most reddit mods are probably great people too, but I haven't had any interactions with reddit mods.

Majority of the mods here are volunteers. Only a couple are actual employees under Dragonfruit (the Bad Dragon subsidiary that owns Furry Network and e621).

I’m now just waiting for the activity in this thread to get someone banned lmao

You know, sometimes i'd argue it isn't that hard... But with over 2500 uploads and being the guy on 6th place on notes count on this site... May say other wise...but i still personally feel i didn't do that much.

Translation is a specialized skill so you have a huge competitive advantage with notes. Also some of us have jobs and other hobbies so we don't have the time to dedicate to getting privileges that are only useful if we did upload a ton of art.

As cool as it would be to get a special title on this site, it really is a lot of work (you might only have 6k post changes, but even that is 10x more than my total despite joining 5 years after me).

All that said, I absolutely could do it if I committed long-term and focused on e621 (at the expense of everythimg else).

As I try to spend less time watching YouTube and playing chess online, more and more I just find myself looking at the ticket queue to see all the drama. Clearly, this is a better use of my time. /s

In my over a decade here, there have only been four times I've felt the need to report users myself though (Notes abuse x2, underage, and basically doxxing someone).

I've only had to report someone once, and it was recent. I won't go into detail but they DM'd me and they were explicitly being a creep.

I have yet to make any other report. Maybe I'll see someone roleplaying in the comments idk. I am absolutely willing to report though, the staff have always been helpful and that was no different regarding handling that report.
