Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: insectophilia -> entomophilia

counterpoint: why?
what do we gain from making this tag namd more "proper"? for readability sake, I think it's better to lean towards using common english terms for tagnames like this.

while entomo- isn't the most unknown greek prefix, I still don't think there's any reason to change this.

Personally I think it would be cool if we could come up with a tag name that didn't lump arachnids and other terrestrial arthropods along with being "insects"

would anyone have a problem with arthrophilia? either as a replacement or as a parent tag to contain both insectophilia and arachnophilia.

arachnophilia seems to be a character tag right now, but it wouldn't hurt to repurpose it. +1 to having arthrophilia as an umbrella tag.

Arthrophilia has the same issue as entomophilia without the benefit of being the proper name for it.

arthropodia is the name of the phylum that all insects and arachnids and whatnot fall into, it's not particularly unknown, and, notably arthropod is, like, a tag on the tag list. "entomo-" is specifically insects.

it does have the problem of being technically a kind of a misnomer. since "arthrophilia" would technically mean "love of joints", but honestly... I don't think that's the first thing people would think of "arthro-" meaning. I think any reasonable user would understand that it's a portmanteau of "arthropod" and "-philia".

really, just I'm kinda with faucet here. not only is it weird that we tag spider-y stuff with a tag that has "insect" in its name, it's also just a bit weird that we consider these two things similar enough to only have one tag for it. while similar, insect-based stuff and spider-based stuff feel different enough to deserve seperate tags.

what if it was arthropophilia?

I was thinking about that, actually. that probably would be fine.

the only thing is that it has a bit of the, umm-- ''draconcopode problem'' where the middle syllable gets missed or whatever because the word just dosn't flow quite how you'd expect it to. it definitely flows better than "arthropodphilia", though.
